No it isn't. It will be moved to Off-Topic.
Not a battle. And there is no Chinese language. It's usually either Mandarin or Cantonese, but I think there are dozens of dialects.
@BumpyBoo: I just wish it had an alphabet, what kills my grade is my character writing. and the teacher is relentless it takes up more time than all my other classes combined and I'm taking 16 hours right now, and its only a 4 hour class, the rest are all three and all math classes.
@icysloth: Well, don't give up. Or, at least don't go to your class with that kind of mindset. They say that if you think you can't do it, then you won't be able to(something along those lines). Personally, conversational Chinese gets easier to use if you have someone to practice conversing with. You just have to put your time and energy into getting a hang of talking. It might become easier for you to speak in Chinese once you've had enough practice and familiarized yourself with it. As for composing Chinese writing....I wouldn't know how difficult writing can be(since I'm illiterate), but I think that if you stick to simple-to-the-point writing and avoid details and grammatical errors(like this guy http://www.chinasmack.com/2012/pictures/foreigners-chinese-composition-amuses-chinese-netizens.html), then your grades in that area might improve(?). I guess it depends on what your teacher wants.
So yeah, good luck and hang in there.
I have the vocab of a 5 year old, if that counts. I'm better at understanding though...just nothing complicated or specific like politics or nuclear engineering.
