Doctor Who Discussion (WARNING: Will Contain Spoilers)

Just finished watching the new Christmas episode and wanted to see what my other fellow Whovians thought of tonight's new episode and what the future of Doctor Who might hold as we wait patiently for the series to return this coming year! :D

What did you think of the new episode The Snowmen?

New TARDIS interior, yay or nay?

And what will most likely be the most talked about character of the coming new episodes, what did you think of The Doctor's new companion, the mysterious Clara Oswald?

The episode was good.

But what really shined was the new TARDIS (and all the new tech used to keep it disguised), along with Clara herself.

Oh, and all the Sherlock Holmes references.

Had a lot of fun watching it.

@InnerVenom123: Agreed, I liked the new TARDIS. The whole hiding in a cloud with a staircase idea was brilliant. I also have to admit that the Sherlock Holmes reference had me laugh.

I liked the fact that they still had The Doctor mourning Amy and Rory's fate from the previous episode, I was worried if they were going to just have him move on and just pick up a new companion but I'm glad they showed him trying to deal with the repercussions.

Any ideas on what's up with Clara? For a moment I thought they were going to pull a River Song on us, where we get to see her go on these amazing adventures with the Doctor only to know what her fate will ultimately be. Thankfully it appears that her future will be a lot more complicated.

Good episode. I prefer the new TARDIS to the prior, brightly colored one that he was using.

I'm intrigued to see how Oswin / Clara turns out.

I'm a little disappointed, though. It appears that the the "current" Oswin that will become his companion is from the 21st. I was really looking forward to seeing him have a companion pre-20th. It would be a new perspective for the companions to have - where even things of the 21st would be alien enough - rather than the standard we've gotten the past few years. Still, I think Oswin here has a lot of potential. Looking forward to this!

Also: Sir Ian McKellen! Always awesome seeing him.

I was thinking the same thing as I couldn't  think of him having any companions that weren't from the present day time of the show, so I'll admit I was like you and looked forward to seeing him have a companion not from the 21st. Though I'm curious on how Clara's mind works, as I assume she's somehow the same person but is somehow able to live completely different lives in various time periods. I'm also curious if it's only when she dies does she end up popping up in a different time or are there various Clara's running around all at the same time yet in different time periods (be interesting if The Doctor found himself surrounded by an army of Clara's xD). But I get the feeling it's some kind of reincarnate kind of thing, that when she dies she just pops up somewhere else in time.

Also, I'm curious if Clara somehow has the same memories as she is able to remember certain things or at least certain phrases like souffle. Obviously she's becoming the new River Song in a sense as I suspect she will be the driving force of the next part of the new season as The Doctor tries to figure out the mystery of Oswald.

@War Killer:

Which I'm okay with. Also, I liked River a lot more when we see less of her. Mystery is good. I think it's time to give River a rest. There is going to be a point where they paint themselves into a corner. We also know, for a fact, how this ends for her.

I like the reincarnation thing, but this is... different. She doesn't seem to retain memories, but her personality is the same. I'm very intrigued.

That's one thing I was afraid they were doing with Clara while watching the episode, that they were going to make her like they did with River we're we already know how she dies and somehow The Doctor taking her as his new companion is his way of making up to her as he already knew her fate. Even in the episode he even states how he's upset because she does "live" as he fears that the Oswald he had already met is the same one, yet now it's been revealed that she is the same yet also not...it's very confusing.

Crazy enough, I had a weird thought that somehow, as The Doctor was going on about how the universe "owed him" for saving it thousands of times that in some way Clara IS the universe, possibly explaining how she can die...yet not die. But that's the beauty of Doctor Who, we honestly never really know until they pull the curtains back and we're left going "WHAT?!"

Either way, she's only been in two episodes thus far and she's already become my new favorite companion. xD

@War Killer:

That's an interesting theory. I hope it's not true, but it's interesting - my reason being that that is a little too similar to Rose and the whole Bad Wolf thing.

I preferred her to Amy since the first episode. I never liked Amy; I liked Rory, though (the Last Centurion is badass).

Now that you mention Rose I can see what you mean, personally I'm not a big fan of her being the universe myself I just get some kind of feeling that this is the universe finally "owing" The Doctor for all the times he's been there to save it. Not to mention that I feel what makes Oswald so fascinating to The Doctor is how here he was feeling crappy because no matter how hard he tries, when it comes to his companions, they all just die and yet now he's met a girl who even when she dies...she doesn't die! lol

I liked Amy at the beginning, being the Girl Who Waited and how The Doctor dealt with the cracks in the universe. Rory is simply epic, as no matter how many times you kill him he just comes back and it's always because loves Amy too much to stay dead. xD Personally I would love Captain Jack to appear again on the show with Matt Smith's Doctor.
