I don't think it's a popular enough medium to come under fire for gun violence. Plus when most people who are not comic book readers they don't think about guns they think about superhero's.

Yes. It's why a lot of those old Horror comics got shut down.

Yeah, the comics code was basically what killed the horror comics.
But the comics code came about because of the Seduction of Innocence, which I think did link comics with devil worship IIRC.

At some point probably, but only after movies, music, and the internet. Comics are pretty far down the line.
