Do you get offended when someone spells your name wrong?

I know this happens from time to time. You tell people how it spelled then a day later you see that your name is spelled wrong. No hard feelings, right?

Nope. Totally used to it. I regularly get called the wrong name entirely, so misspelling is at least a step in the right direction >_>

It's a little annoying but not a super big deal. Once I got a trophy with my name spelled wrong.

Used to. Now I just let it go.

I don't even expect people to know how to spell my last name anymore. If I'm in a situation where I need to give something like that I just spell it out before I'm even asked.

Often times people think my name Aaron is spelled Erin.

It would be correct if I was a female - but I'm not. I get a little peeved by it but at least they tried, right?

Actually, yes. I already get annoyed when people don't use a capital letter when writing my name.

@punyparker: It's Bethan :) Thought it would make things easier to just go by Beth, but still regularly being called Bev, or Bess, or Becky (always damn Becky!!). It's not even hard XD

Becky comes from Bethan?.......(and when people have awesome names,they should be called by their fill names,so it's Bethan for me. :) )

In Belgium people pronounce Damon as /d/ /ɑː/ /m/ /ɒ/ /n/. Which is terrible. They say the a like in "Start" and the O like in "old"

The story goes that one of my great grandfathers dropped the e at the end of his name and that is how the spelling of my surname came about. Most people try to spell it the traditional way, so when people ask me to spell my name I always add "no e" at the end of the spelling.

Meh. You get used to it after a while. I dislike is when people begin to play "Guess the Nationality" game when they read my first name and they always get it wrong. Oh well, could be worse they could always call me a girl name. Oh wait...

When ever I say my name, Aundrae, people, by default think it's spelled Andre.

Understandable mistake, but still somehwat annoying nontheless.

Well most people do not know my real name, I just go by Willy which is just a nod as to the neighborhood I grew up in.

Not really. Both my first and last names have interchangeable letters.

I've long since developed the habbit to spell my name out when needed.

Life is too short to spend energy getting worked up over that lol.

My name is misspelled quite often

No, I'm used to it. My first name is a semi-commonly (known) name except it's spelt with a "y". There's only 3 other people in the world that I know that spell it that way, two play pro and college football

Only if someone's already told them how it's spelled, or if they've seen it written in the correct spelling.

Teachers got my second name wrong at high school. Saying the last letter as an "N" instead of an "M". I mean my name is written down on the register..come on. And it should kinda be in the job description that they get people's names right....

Wouldn't say I was offended or anything. I found it kinda funny really.

Offended no? I just chuckle and let 'em know the incredibly easy mistake they made. See, my mum is a weirdo. You've heard of the name "Jacob," yeah? Well that's not my name. It's "Jaycob." Heard of that one? No? That's ok, neither have I (although my mom being the pediatric nurse she is, she has taken care of exactly 1 newborn with the name Jaycob in her nearly 20 year career, so apparently I'm not the only one. Lol).

Buuuuut I had teachers who constantly spelled it wrong over and over, and I got kind of annoyed at that. First time though, and I couldn't care less.

Nah, but I do question how bad they must suck at spelling when it's a fairly simple name with little to no variation in how it's spelled.

@The_Deathstroker: How did anyone ever get your name spelled wrong? It's incredibly easy. Unless you're talking about the longer version. Is an H missing from it perhaps? I've seen it spelled that way.

No, though, my actual name is Stegman, spelt like it sounds. I DO get offended when people make lame jokes like, "How's Oprah doin'?" since her boyfriend's name is "Stedman".
