Do you consider the Internet a place?

I spend so much time on here, that it's kinda like a place. Someone might ask me "hey what are you doing?" or "Hey where are you?" And I'll be like "I'm on YouTube homeskillet" or "I'm checking my e-mail" or "I'm watching this cool pron video".

Imagine in the future when you'll be able to connect your mind to the internet somehow like VR or through some helmet. Like in those movies, The Zero Theorem, Virtuosity, or that other movie I was just thinking of right now, but I forgot what it was because I'm a dumbass. Then the internet will really be like a place in real life. Except it won't be real life. That shit is gonna be cray cray.

EDIT: The movie I was thinking of was Chappie. But now I'm not sure if that part in the movie is actually what I'm thinking of.

I consider the internet a lot of things....but a place? I guess you can say that since I use it to escape my personal reality of life-long harships and continuous family drama.

One day we'll figure out how to download knowledge, and we'll be able to shoot 500 episodes of anime into our brains in a second, along with cutting school years down to 5 minutes a piece. :D

... Not really? I mean... it isn't like I am 'going' somewhere. If I am on the internet and someone ask me where I am... I don't say, "Oh, I am on comicvine," I say I am at my house, at uni, or wherever I may be at the time. I have not even considered saying what I was doing was where I was at before... Not sure if I am the odd one or you are.... probably a bit of both.

If it was a Virtual Reality? Likely would, in that case, 'be' at the site in question since that is where my 'conscious' is. I don't really see being on this site, youtube or any other as different from doing something else on my computer like playing a video game or watching netflicks. They are things I am doing, not places I am at.
