Let's say that evolution is not just a theory. Let's say that we DID evolve from Banana munching creatures, do you think that this is it? Or is they're more to the story of mankind? Everyday we are learning new things about ourselves could it be that in the next 50 0r 100 years we will evolve?
Do you believe that humans will continue to Evolve?
" Ha...I think we will de-volve. "Same here. Technology has taken away the need to physically evolve. Humanity has grown weaker and weaker over the past couple hundred years, most specifically the last century. Eventually, we'll devolve into little more that amorphous pink blobs that can only live through technology. Kinda like this:

Exactly.
Also...we don't just "evolve". We adapt to our surroundings. We adapt to the lives we have been living for so long.
With the overuse of technology...we are easily on pace to "devolve" into beings whose bodies rely less on physical activity.
Evolution is part of live... we grow and change over thousands of years due to genetic mutations in the genepool...
Yes we'll continue to evolve... into what is anyone's guess... personally i kinda like the idea that we'll finally evolve into a form where we don't need physical bodies anymore... sort of like Ascension in Stargate or Babylon 5...
But how we'll get there is anyones guess
M
I think that things will de-evolve, considering everything eventually breaks down.
Besides, with every new generation, genetic information is lost...
" It'll maintain for the most part. As for the theory of Evolution, when scientists find one case of beneficial genetic mutation, call me. :P "You mean like how when humanity move north our skin got lighter?
Yes, because we are teaching our offspring to become dependant as much as we are of computers and technology advances itself in a world that there is still much to be obtained.
" @Prince CortSether said:" We'll die out as a species first. "2012? "
2012 is not the end of the world. Even modern Mayans acknoledge that its just the end of the calander's cycle, nothing more.
" @Metatron_Da_Don said:Well assuming Humans don't kill themselves off, which looks more and more likelier in the 20st and21st century, over thousands of years the potential of out physical bodies will decrease and out mental powress will increase. Who knows we may even become telepaths or something. But humans have always evolved, its part of surviving and adapting to new environment, threats and stimuli, its one of the basic elements of a living organism." @Prince CortSether said:2012 is not the end of the world. Then again what if there is NO next century or link in the chain or even a next 10 years. What if all those bible stories were true... What if Jesus is coming again then what? We go to hell and call it a day?
I think we are evolving into slugs. That or Spineless ones.
"As for the theory of Evolution, when scientists find one case of beneficial genetic mutation, call me. :P "People are born without wisdom teeth. People are also born without tonsils or appendixes, which is beneficial in that you don't need any of these things, but they have a high potential to be detrimental to your health. Since we can treat the maladies that are brought on by these vestigial organs, it won't result in these mutations increasing. Modern medicine is a double-edged blade.
I would say yes but not so much physically. I would say the human race will either evolve to have more brain power and capabilities while our bodies become more delicate (without human corruption).
I think humans will evolve physically but i think it will be more like mutations due to human tampering.
I also think we will start seeing cyborg like situations. People implanting chips and stuff in their head for better memory and pocessing. Cybernetic limbs similar to Will Smith's on I-Robot
No living thing can remain the way it is forever. When something stops evolving it usually dies off in nature.
Even now, despite the fact Humanity has somewhat butchered natural selection slowing the whole survival of the smartest and fittest down quite some bit, we are likely still going to see something quite different a million years from know if humanity doesn't wipe itself from existence.

"The calendar thing for 2012 was probably the result of the guy working on the calendar getting lazy and leaving. The Mayans couldn't even predict the end of their own race..how are they credible in saying when humans as a whole will be extinct? "
To be fair a lot of civilizations don't see their end before it happens.
not at this rate , us humans are slow to change figuretively and literally ,in my opinion we're not as advanced as we should be
of course.. mutation leading to evolution is one certainty in existence.. like what people say.. the only thing that is permanent is change..
Well I don't evolve until level 36 and you gotta give my buddy a stone with a leaf on it for him to evolve...
See what I did there?
we could evolve but i beleve we will be wiped out by either robots taking over the earth and killing 98% of the human population, aliens will kill us or if we last long enough the sun gose supernova turns into a black hole and absorbs the first three planets

Mutations increase genetic variation amongst populations. Also biologically speaking, humans will continue to evolve provided some extreme event doesn't somehow cause another mass extinction.
