Personally I think its lights out and thats finally. What are your thoughts?
Do you believe in life after death
I refrain from final judgement until that day finally comes - I'd like to think something extraordinary happens though.
We're probably just dust in the wind, though.
Here we go.
The true motto of the Off Topic forum.
@thetruebarryallen: WE LIVE LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!
No I don't believe there is. It would be nice if there was but we're probably just worm-food after death.

I think we're all worm food if those worms are strong enough to get through coffins and tombstones...
Not deeply religious or anything of the sort, but I am one of those "I am infinite consciousness having a human experiance" types. A bit trippy I know, but I love the idea of traversing the stars as some non-corporeal entity who is above the conventional boundaries of life. Worm-food...nah, we all ought to be star-dust
I want there to be, because I'm scared of nothingness.

Why would worms have to go through tombstones? They're above groud.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, merely transferred or transformed (hope I got the wording right there), therefore I find it highly unlikely that one's soul, if souls do indeed exist, just turn into nothingness. Not sure about a formal afterlife, though- reincarnation or something along those lines sounds more logical.
I can't wait until this turns into the next "Atheists vs Religionists Round 9876"
And in the great words of the Joker: "And here we GO!"
@squares: Ain't nobody got time for souls.
Not necessarily as how it's described, but if don't understand how one can think nothing happens.... You think you just die, and bam! That's it? Nothing more to life after death?
I can't not-believe something happens. It's just as crazy as saying there's an invisible man living in the sky that watches all that we do.
@monsterstomp: Ain't nobody got time for a lot of things these days, it seems.
I don't understand how after death you just "stop existing" Like seriously, just absence? Game over?
I'm Christian. So that should answer your question.

Especially bronchitis.
I don't. Not seen any evidence thus far to sway me either. I used to believe in an after life and ghosts but I realized it didn't make any sense.

What does this mean? Do you mean you are scared of there not being anything there when you die? Or when you die you simply cease to exist? If we die and that is it we cease to exist. There is nothing to be scared since we can't be scared of anyhthing or anything else.
I am just curious what is meant by this statement.
Yeah I actually do. If it isn't Heaven, then there has to be something else and I just know it. It'd be pretty depressing if I didn't believe and I refuse to think like that. It gives me something to look forward to. Have faith viners.
@mrdecepticonleader: Well I can't speak for the original poster of the comment but for me that is exactly what is so scary. The nothing. The not knowing. The just ceasing to be, you know? I often encounter the argument of "but you won't even know" or even "it'll be just like before you were born" but I just find that absolutely terrifying. To just wink out of existence and never think or feel again and have no awareness and just....poof, gone. Just like that. Really really scares me.
Also, Lols at some of you who believe in an after-life--without an proof--solely because you don't want to be bummed out. =D
There have been thousands of reports of ghost sightings all across the world for centuries. All of these people cannot be crazy or liars. Yes, I am totally convinced in life after death and that what we do in this life impacts what happens to us in the next life.

You don't stop existing but you do stop SENSING. It's the same as when you go to sleep; body sensing ceases so you become unaware of the physical world. I would say that's what "death" is.
Your entire life is a microcosm of the larger cycle of two-way motion in the universe. The wake and sleep cycle mirrors the larger "life" and "death" cycle -- they're essentially the same thing.

Yeah I can actually really see why that would be scary. It isn't a fear I share but yeah. I guess in a way it isn't like you just totally don't exist anymore or that you were never alive. I just bear that in mind I guess.
@mrdecepticonleader: Yeah it is also a loss of awareness thing? I also fear going mad or getting something like amnesia or dementia, and really it all comes down to the same fear in a way. But hey I think it is pretty cool that it doesn't scare you, and more power to you :)

Ha thanks :)
Getting dementia is something that really scares me as well.To not know who you are... must be awful. Got to see its affect first hand. Just a terrible disease. I know cancer is horrible I am not gonna say dementia is worse than cancer or compare them, but at least if someone is dying from cancer they know they are, with dementia they don't even know. I hope they find a cure for it one day an illness like that, like cancer shouldn't be allowed to exist.
@catfightfan: You would be amazed what you brain can make you do if you believe it hard enough. It's called a placebo effect.
Do you know some people's bodies have gotten rid of cancer when doctor gave them water pills and told them it was a new potential cure for cancer? Our brains are something else.
