these are some of my favorite shows: The Wire, Breaking Bad, Fullmetal Alchemist, One piece, Avatar the Last Airbender, Chuck, Arrested Development, Dragonball, Code Geass, Game of Thrones, Parts of LOST, Doctor Who, Misfits, first season of True Blood, etc.

I guess what I'm saying is that I love suspense.

Here is where I run into a problem; I have a lot of restrictions.

  1. I won't watch shows with a format that have the main characters doing different things from issue to issue rather than dealing with the overarching plot -- like Smallville, Supernatural, Bones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc.
  2. I won't watch shows that were cancelled. I'm sure Firefly was good, but I can't watch a series that isn't complete. It would just make me upset when I finished it.
  3. I won't watch The Walking Dead because I started it and I like the comic better.
  4. I don't really watch anime unless it is amazing and in that case, I'll only watch something that is REALLY good (not Naruto or Bleach)

Its been hard for me to find something I haven't seen before, but please try me.

And I really don't want this combined with another thread because if it is then no one will ever even try to answer my question for at least a year. Then someone awkwardly is going to answer and I won't know what to say because.. well it was a year ago.

Here's a few you may or may not dig:

Battlestar Galactica

Prison Break

Dexter

Trigun

Cowboy Bebop

Wilfred (I realize it looks stupid as hell, but it's actually good)

Sons of Anarchy

Firefly is complete though with the movie Serenity. In my opinion at least.

The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and Dexter sound like they'd be up your alley. I think you should give Supernatural a second chance though, while it starts off episodic, it eventually gets into a very deep and great overarching story.

Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, Soul Eater and Serial Experiments Lain. They have the odd episode where they do something to chill, but for the most part all of them remain somewhat focused on dealing with the overarching plot. Gurren Lagann and Soul Eater are probably more like Dragon Ball or Avatar; action/adventure sorta stuff, but Lain and Eva tend to be darker (Eva has its share of fight scenes, though, but they do become secondary. It's also a deconstruction).

@ChaosMarvel: Yeah Gilbert is legendary. His rant to Will about the education fairies had me laughing so hard!

You don't like episodic shows? Lol that's the majority. Battlestar does stick to the main plot and concludes after just four seasons. So you should like that. Not really any 'filler' episodes

Justified is brilliant. Korra is great, too. Just wrapped up its first season and it's supposed to have another.
