DBZ: Was the future better off with or without the android? - Off-Topic

Was the future really better off? Sure, they're all dead, but at least they die as bad-asses. If Trunks didn't travel back in time, there would be no GT. Your thoughts?

I'm pretty sure trunks traveled to namek in that alternate future If we could see him continue his journey

where was Broly by the way? he was supposed to return to Earth fully healed. he would have kicked Android ass.

or even Android 13. i always wanted to see 13 knock them dead.

Broly's place is canon is questionable at best =P

GT, in terms of characterisation, was actually brilliant. Had they extended the same care to the plot, battles and villains, I don't think anyone would have anything to complain about, but alas, here we are.

And the best timeline would be the one where Gohan just killed Super Buu and went home. But nooo, we had to extend the fight another 4 years.

Unfortunately, with how messy the continuity is, you can basically say any and every movie is canon. Broly's actually makes more sense (not so much his return or Bio-Broly), but his initial film can be placed in continuity.

Tree of Life, Cooler's Revenge, Lord Slug are all definitely canon though as of Plan to Eradicate the (Super) Saiyans, even though that makes no sense either lol.

Personally, I consider;
Dead Zone, Return of Cooler (Cooler's Revenge is harder to fit into canon), SA13, Broly: TLSS, Bojack Unbound, and maybe Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon, to be canon. The others are far harder to slot in.

i also have the japanese movie in VHS (I know right?) and before the movie starts, it says this takes place in the ten days that Cell gives the Z fighters to rest before his games.

idk about anyone else, but i always liked the movie villains better. they should have been part of the story line or something. Garlic jr, Cooler, Broly, 13 and Bojack were the best villains for the entire franchise IMO

@nickthedevil: AGREED. The only DBZ villains I liked were #17 and Cell (before he came from Goku's kamikaze attack, I was just sick of him by then).

The movie villains were way better. Janemba was Buu, just better and cut down to 50 minutes lol

DBZ should've ended after Gohan defeated Cell. They couldn't really end it at the Frieza arc (I know that's where Toriyama wanted to end it) because the whole 'Gohan is extremely powerful' thing hadn't been dealt with yet. By the end of the Cell story arc there were pretty much no loose plot threads. The Bojack movie was fine too, since it was before the timeskip with Adult Gohan, Buu, and all that stuff. I'm not sure if the movies are considered canon though.

Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai (a game for the PSP) had a storyline based on that basic idea.

Trunks has gone Super Saiyan in the card game as well (which is just awesome).
