Archaeologists’ Shock Claim: A Piece of Jesus Christ’s Crucifixion Cross Was Potentially FoundCross of Jesus found?
Nice enough that they give some archaeological evidence of Biblical events, but I don't really like them being played up as holy relics. A fragment of Jesus' cross is just that: a fragment, nothing more.
this.Although you can't blame them really for putting significance on it.
Not only that, but I am not even sure if that IS a fragment of Jesus' cross,or if he even existed....
I'm actually speaking as a Christian here, just to clarify. Even if it was an actual fragment (which I still doubt until we receive actual proof), I don't feel comfortable with I don't know...'deifying' an object. A relic has historical significance sure, but it's just an object, there's no spiritual value.

I agree.
I wonder if I by some Plywood from Home Depot and put some Dirt and Mulch on it could I get away with saying that this is actually a piece of Noah's Ark and I found it in my backyard ?
I'm a faithful Christian but how in the world do they just guess it's a piece of Jesus' cross? It's a piece of rock...
Wow, that's quite a claim.
Eh...
I doubt that. Thousands of people were crucified back then, how could they pinpoint this to be a piece of the cross Jesus was crucified on?
this reminds me of the one show with the guys going around with their metal detectors looking for stuff...every time they find anything that thing they've found is the most amazing thing ever....like they're metal detecting outside of Elvis's childhood home and they find a screw and they automatically say "This screw is probably from Elvis's red wagon that he played with as a kid!!!" and they get super excited...except there is absolutely no evidence at all to point them in that direction...it's just a screw and they're jumping to conclusions
Eh...

This.
@biteme_fanboy: Simple they use the Magicon 3000
Considering the amount of pepole the Roman's crucified what exactly makes them think this one was JC's?
AWESOME!... -ish. It would be insanely cool if they could prove that it was Jesus', but I agree with this:

Oh well obviously if some archaeologists claim they've found part of the cross of Jesus then it must be true. I mean it's not like the Romans used crucifixion as a common form of punishment and execution on loads of criminals and enemies of the state right? Jeez talk about making stuff up out of thin air. How many other 'artifacts' have been given a fake religious or spiritual quality to them?
@lvenger: I found this rock outside my house. I'm pretty sure it was one of the stones people threw at Jesus. It somehow made its way from the Eastern hemisphere to the western and into the mid-west area of America, but I'm 95% sure it's a Jesus rock.
I have the whip that was used on him
Mmm kinky :D

Great response.

It totally is, I was in the middle east on my holiday when I found it and I wanted to see how far I could skip it on the water, must have made it all the way.
@god_spawn: There's a strange thorny circle at the back of my garden that looks handmade and like it could be worn on someone's head. I bet it's the crown of thorns Jesus wore whilst carrying his cross to Calvary.

Oh so you're into THAT kind of thing ;)
It has been claimed several times in the past that "a piece of the Cross" had been found, and one every single one of those occasions, it has been refuted and disproven. Likewise with the Ark, and half a dozen other, so called, holy artifacts.
I don't see why this incidence should be any different.
As someone correctly posted above, crucifixion used to be the favorite method of execution for the Romans. Even if they can prove that they've found a piece of a cross, there is absolutely no way that they can prove it is the piece of one specific cross.
@lvenger: @cameron83: @mrdecepticonleader: Man, now all we need is to do is meet up with the people who found the cross and join the objects together and then maybe we can summon Jesus. We could be like the Planeteers, except for Jesus.
@jonny_anonymous: I would believe that. Jesus did walk on water, I'd expect his rocks to do the same.
@god_spawn: By your powers combined, I am Jesus Christ! It kind of fits with the Captain Planet intro :P
@god_spawn: And then we'd have to perform the sign of the cross over and over until Jesus is better! :P

LOL
On a more serious note, I'm pretty sure my next door neighbour is Cthulhu

yeah! ha ha
@danhimself: I think I saw that show once. I just looked it up and the one I'm thinking of is called "Diggers" on the National Geographic Channel. Either way, the show was total garbage and one of the funniest things I've ever saw.

This.

yeah I'm almost positive that's it...everything they find they automatically jump to the conclusion that it's more important than it is

^^^--- The correct answer.

That's.... not a bad idea. With that I can believe he's a superhero.
