Conscription - Yes or No?

They're already allowed to do that. Depending on the situation, it might be the right thing to do. For example another WW2 Hitler type trying to take over the world. But I think there'd be enough people volunteering on their own.

I guess I'd be ok with it, if I hadn't already volunteered and for a just cause. If it wasn't for a just cause and it was like the war in Iraq that didn't even make sense. Then I wouldn't be okay with it. But so what, there's not anything I'd be able to do about it. I'm not going to shoot my big toe off or run to Canada like a little shit. And I probably wouldn't be okay with family members being selected. Why would I?

If a country can't find enough people to fight in a war willingly, it's probably not a war worth fighting.

Also, the vast majority of military personnel will tell you that a volunteer military provides a much better fighting force than men forced to fight against their will.

Yes under the following scenarios

• If more than 50% of the main military is defeated and we need help
• If the country is being invaded and we need people to hold them off
• If ET's ever attack us
• If another mad man trys to take over the world and starts succeeding

No under these scenarios

• If were attacking to prevent war
• If were trying to take over the world
• If were backstabbing the space UN
• If were not at war

I can be drafted at any time even have the nifty card in my wallet that says so, and I already agreed to it. That boat has sailed. At the same time, necessity is the real question. If it was needed due to the prospects of an invasion or something else equally horrible, then yes, but if it is just to boost their numbers in peace? No.

No one likes to think of loved ones in harm's way, and I am far more comfortable signing myself up then giving the go ahead for my loved ones, so no, I would rather they not get drafted and I go instead, but we don't always get what we want.

I am against it, primarily for moral reasons.

You're forcing someone to kill against their will. A fallen soldier who signed up to fight is willingly giving his or her life to protect their country. A dead conscript, however, was essentially murdered by their government.

You're also forcing the enemy to kill innocent people who are not ready to die.

In America we have to register for the military draft as a male when we turn 18 to 25. Thing is, there is never going to be a draft or the US will revolt
