India also holds one of China's largest political enemies, if they were allies the Chinese would've gotten him already.
As far as Russia, Russia is aligned with China. Russia need China more than Russia need India.
China doesn't need Nepal. China can't best India single-handed because they have a more powerful military and more people.
The United States is also not aligned with India. The United States backed Pakistan when India went commie, the alliance with Pakistan grew stronger when Pakistan fought Russia in Afghanistan and even more when the United States went into Afghanistan to fight the Taliban.
Plus, Pakistan now has all the leverage since the United States can't afford to have nuclear Pakistan to go rogue and have a rogue Muslim state holding a nuclear weapon.
N.Korea is also way more dependant on China than Russia as China is all that keeps S.Korea and Japan from handling business.
Finally, economic relationships doesn't mean much. WWI European powers had Europe all economically dependant on each other, but look how that turned out. Though I agree that War is unlikely since nuclear weapons are in both States and no one wants to die a horrible death.

China has a huge geographical problem, actually, it's easier for India to sabotage China's food resources, because China's water comes from the Tibet and defending Tibetan borders is a lost situation, China has a superior military and a superior military budget too and a bigger military personal, but defending an invasion in the Tibet and in the Himalayas, is a very difficult task to execute.
China is also limited in the pacific sea, due to the Nato's presence, especially the U.S.
Edit: I actually think it's a tie if outside help and nukes are prohibited, with a lot of bloodshed to go around. Although I do think India is outgunned and "outmanned". After the war though, China would get bullied by India's allies.
You missed one little thing about China. They never sought war with the outsiders. I mean never. And it's been this way for more than 3000 years. They are not aggressive and they have never been dominating towards other countries. Within its borders? Sure. But that ain't it. And no matter how big your army, how modern your technology is, this does matter. Many proofs throughout the history.
And India is developing fast. Right now, they'd lose. But it won't be that easy as some say. In 5-10 years? Who knows.
China can dictate what goes on their region. Can build artificial islands in their region. And has more power. Sure USA has a presence in the region(with Japan and South Korea) but there's a reason we haven't invaded North Korea. And even so China is challenging USA's influence in the region day by day. Lastly China can flex its muscles more internationally than India.
Meanwhile with India they can barely flew their muscles in their region and is kept in checked by Pakistan(if we're being honest).
This war will be disastrous but China wins like they already did. And moving China has much more advanced infrastructure and modern weaponry than India. I bring up advanced infrastructure because China's transport infrastructure is out of this war and thus MUCH easier(and lighting fast) time transporting troops and military equipment.

I know this is an old post but if you THINK Russia is coming to India's aid against China? lol. Then I have a new Bentley to sell you. Have you not seen the many military drills Russia/China has had recently? Russia just supporting India with weapons would be detriment to their goals against the West. Anyways, China has Pakistan who keeps India in check. Japan? All China will do is support North Korea who is already launching missiles near Japan. Japan who doesn't really have an army. And USA ain't getting involved in a war like this. At most they'll support India with weapons. But China will get support from Russia.
Lastly China's navy ALONE has India outclassed.

The boled is slowly changing with China. They are now trying to become a navel power like the USA(not sure if they will be able to catch up with us but they're trying) and have been investing more aggressively than India.

A world war is definitely coming down to nuclear weapons. And both countries are capable of wiping out the entire earth with the nuke stockpile they have.

@game_king597: Russia is only flirting with China, Russia would never prefer China over Europe and therefore the entire West, alone that Russia offered that if a civil war happens in the United States, they would support the Right Wing Front against the Democrat oppression.
They said that they would send soldiers to support the patriotic resistance, aka Grassroots-right Wing and numerous other patriotic organizations in America. This is not Russia from the past anymore, it's a nation, a civilization that fully entrusts a capitalist system, it's a country that believes in sovereignty, it's not an expanding communist menace anymore, even though their support wouldn't necessarily be with Soldiers but with weapons.
Russia might be not a totally Western civilization, but it shares a lot of historical backgrounds with the West, especially the people living in western-Russia.
If Russia somehow experiences a huge economic improvement, it would theoretically be a mix between Western Civilization and South Korea and Japan and I mean Japan and South Korea are allies of the West.
Russia is strategically getting closer to China because they don't want to be alone but Russia seeks for Westernization.
China sympathizes with the Democrat rulership in the United States of America, Russia sympathizes with the "patriotic people" in the USA, tell me the difference.

India is better connected than China in terms of ideology, cultural and political views, for the simple fact that the USA is opposed to China, that all drag other Western civilizations such as Europe to side for the USA and once Europe sides for the United States, that automatically forces Russia to side for India too.
The only advantage that China has, is its economic ties to the West, but there is nothing beyond that.
