Cheerleaders

What do you think of cheerleaders? Should cheerleading be considered a sport? If you had kids would you let them join a cheer squad? Cheerleaders are stereotyped as snobby and dumb. Have you ever met an intelligent cheerleader? Did the cheerleaders you knew get fat after High School?

My country doesn't really have cheerleaders and if there are, no one really cares about them.

As far as pictures of cheerleaders on the Internet go this was a poor effort though

1. Cheeleaders are fine.
2. Yes, cheerleading should be considered a sport...one of those lesser sports like Rhythmic Gymnastics or Synchronized Swimming but a sport none the less.
3. Sure, why not - anything to get her out of the house and exercising.
4. When I was in school, the student council president was a cheerleader. She was also an "A" student. Very friendly to everyone.
5. I don't know about the student council cheerleader, but I did run into another ex-cheerleader about a dozen years later and she was now a nurse and still looked AMAZING (this after having a kid).

Cheeleaders get a bum rap, in my opinion. Sorority girls are the ones you have to look out for.

Should cheerleading be considered a sport? No, a sport requires a competition which cheerleading has only on occasions.

If you had kids would you let them join a cheer squad? I would, but id prefer my children play sports *edit* thinking about this some more, it would depend on what the outfits looked like.

Same as any group of people. Some good and some bad.

In most areas I would say no buuuut in some areas they should be considered something sport like. Some places have serious competition with camps and the like. Maybe I watched one to many cheer leader movies.

Cheerleaders being smart I gotta say depends on the person. Some are really bright and in middle school were in the gifted group with me and now in high school they take honors and AP of courses so yeah they are bright. Others well they are so dumb they would probably forget to breath if they weren't reminded. Plus they are the ones who are so ugly that nobody wants to touch.
