Which is the better pet? Which is smarter? Which serves a better purpose?
Battle of the animals
Cats are like those loner friends everyone has who eat all your food and poop in the corner (maybe not that last part) when you try and act friendly they get mad and scratch you in the face. Perhaps cats are better and I just own an evil cat.
Dogs are like your best friend. They are nice, want to hang out all the time, and they always repay kindness. Dogs atleast have the courtesy to do their business outside.
I have two dogs and I love them both. They are both well trained and smart. I do like cats though, I don't own any because my mother is allergic but a lot of my friends have cats in they are great lap warmers. People always say cats are not friendly but they do tend to like to cuddle a lot lol. Of course once I live on my own I'm probably going to have like four dogs, a couple cats, an iguana, a ball python, and If I had enough money, (which I most likely wouldn't lol) a Savannah cat, because those things are freaking awesome. I would live on like a farm with all these animals. Ooooh I could have goats and sheep if I lived on a farm!!! =D
Cats, ive always been able to do the same thing with my cats that I can with my dogs its just that you have to earn their trust, a dog will lick your ass even if you kick it so I always felt like they are the lazy persons way out.
I like both though, mostly its a size difference if properly trained.
I've always preferred dogs but I don't dislike cats. Dogs are far more interested in you than cats:
This human gives me food, love, attention and a home.........he/she must be god!

Depends on the breed. I've know some clever dogs and some retarded ones. Same with Cats. However i've heard of guide dogs for the blind.......never heard of guide Cats.......
Dogs by a long shot in my opinion. Nearly every single dog i've ever had no matter how placid and nice has turned on things that it thought were a danger to me or my family. Due to their pack mentality they are normally very loyal. There's a reason they are called man's best friend.
@loki9876: I like cats but if that bear decided to kill it it'd be dead. Whereas my two dogs together against that bear would be able to do some damage against it and even chase it off if it choose to fight. Of course if that bear went all out both my dogs could be very injured. Which is why whenever they chase after some creature in the woods, I do as much as possible to stop them lol. Whether it be deer, foxes, raccoon's or most recently (and somewhat terrifyingly given me worrying about them) coyote's. Luckily we haven't had bears in our woods for a while so I'm hoping that I wont have to face that scenario in real life. Luckily all those animals run like hell when Dagny runs barking after them lol
Seriously all this discussion about how cat's are unfriendly or are cowards isn't true. Every time I go to one of my friends house both his cats are by my legs when I walk and as soon as I'm sitting, they're in my lap lol. Plus if you are ever in a house that has both cats and dogs, I seriously doubt you will see the cat running from that dog if it goes after it, no that cat will slap the s##t out of the dog lol.
if you die in your home with your pet, the dog will lay next you and die,
the cat will eat you
The woman in France who received the first "successful" face transplant had most of her face bitten away by her loving and loyal pet dog who arguably was frantic to wake her up after hitting her head on the edge of furniture and knocking herself out. I dunno -- the claim a dog will lie down and die with you goes against its every instinct for survival although I do have to say, loyalty to owners is a pretty profound trait in dogs.
I like both but then again, I never had either. They are adorable.
