The problem with the star is that, like Hancock, we've only seen it at work against (relatively) weak opponents. If Hancock were to go up against Thanos, Thor, or the Silver Surfer, would he be depicted as invulnerable to pain or damage? Highly unlikely, if the movie wanted to have any credibility. Same thing with the star. Just because it can instantly kill most (if not all) of Mario's enemies doesn't mean that it could take out Superman or Godzilla. Heck, it may not even be able to take out a terminator or Captain America. Unless there's some proof of the star being able to take out a super-powerful being, there's no reason to jump to that conclusion.

Not to sound too repetitive, but, again, just because an atom bomb is capable of killing any sort of life (or nearly anything) on our earth, or even in this universe, it doesn't automatically follow that it can destroy any sort of life in any fictional universe (Bugs Bunny, Popeye, Galactus, etc.).

As Johnny said...it's only worked on weak opponents. It hasn't really been put up against something/someone with someone of great durability or what have you. Can't just assume it could kill anyone/anything. Protection wise is probably another story though, but it only lasts for so long.

Really it's a universe thing

Most fictional universes weren't made to co exist so it's hard to tell if something powerful in one will be as powerful in another where a completely different set of rules apply

Really it's a universe thing

It's hard to tell if something powerful in one universe would work the same way in a universe where the rules are different. I.E. would popeye really be that strong if he was in a comic universe? Would his toon force still apply?
