Can a person really be haunted by a ghost, demon, or other supernatural being (like in the movies) and be driven to a serious mental illness?
Can a person be haunted?
Lol, this guy believes in ghosts/spirits/all that mumbojumbo.
Not really. That's why I'm asking.
@transcendence: then no.
“Now I know what a ghost is. Unfinished business, that's what.”
― Salman Rushdie
Yeah. I haunt @claymore1998 and @ccraft currently.
Not today man... not today >_>
@ccraft: So can a person be haunted by unfinished business?
I am haunted by ghosts, they follow me where ever I go. They give me chills when I hear them speak. They live in the mirrors, and hide where I cannot see. I am an empty house, and haunted by self doubt...
@transcendence: Yes, yes they can....
@transcendence: Well what is a demon? A monster from hell? A shadow that you saw that you could have sworn moved? The thoughts in your head that tells you to do something bad?
I experience Hypnopompic hallucinations, and it wasn't till recently someone told me that the things I see moving when I wake up were actually demons. So since then I see less objects move around and more shadow people moving. Few nights ago I saw a shadow woman sitting in the floor and when I moved closer she quickly crawled to the foot of my bed and went under the bed, she slipped between the cracks. Do I want to think these shadow people are demons? Hell no. I don't need to be scarred any more than I am. It's all about perception.
@ccraft: Damn, I would have sh*t my pants if that happened to me.
@thor_parker82: I'm used to it, I've had this happen many times in my life. I one time woke up and saw snakes everywhere in my room, between my bed, on the ceiling, everywhere! Needless to say I quickly ran out of my room.
My mind is my personal hell.
@ccraft: Is there a cure for those hallucinations, or do you always have to live with them ?
@ccraft: The mind is very dangerous. It can instantly ruin your life with intrusive thoughts, paranoia, anxiety, and other types of mentality.
@thor_parker82: It's a sleeping disorder, and iirc no there isn't a cure. I've lived with them most of my life, what concerns me the most is scaring my partner, I wouldn't want to be a burden to her. Many things can cause these hallucinations like stress for instance.
@ccraft: Good.
@ccraft: I am very sorry to hear that man.
@transcendence: Anxiety... the worst feeling ever >_>
@transcendence: Anxiety... the worst feeling ever >_>
Agreed.
@thor_parker82: Thanks, but it's okay, I'm pretty used to it.

Hehe yes come to me my dinner, come to me ^_^
I've heard of such things. My girl is a lot more in tune with this topic. But yes, I believe a person can be haunted. In more ways than one. I like most people have a hard time swallowing those things, even with a very open mind. But I've found over the years what she says is usually closer to the reality than anything out of a religious text.
Can a person really be haunted by a ghost, demon, or other supernatural being (like in the movies) and be driven to a serious mental illness?
No because ghosts, demons, and the supernatural dont exist.
Next question?
@claymore1998: Am I the only one who has seen things move by themselves? o_O

That's just your belief though. Some people actually believe in these things.

And children believe in Santa Claus, some people believe in witches, some believe that they dont need modern medicine to cure them when they get sick because a god will keep them safe, etc, etc.
People believe in all sorts of crazy things.
Until there's evidence of ghosts, demons, or the supernatural... it's just a fantasy.
I believe a person can believe they are being haunted. If it's real to them, then it's real to me. I would definitely be sympathetic.
@beaconofstrength: Kirsten Dunst is haunting you?
