Which beats trying to set the guy up in some weird trap. Trust me, I have been there, and I have done ALL this. Trying to get them in trouble, fighting back, etc. Hollywood loves to make great fairy tales of turning the tables, but unless you become a kung fu master over the summer, it almost never works in real life. At least I haven't heard of any such plan working, especially when the bullies are at the point they have already turned into felons. And that is what the original poster is dealing with: criminals.
If it was still just in the bullying stage, verbal intimidation and a little bit of pushing around, than yea, maybe standing up them will work because they maybe big chickens. But once they get to full out physical assault? And the bully described in the original post has gone beyond even that.
Honestly, the only thing that stopped the bullying I went through in my miniscule hometown was moving across the country to a huge school in which no one knew me and no one cared. But school administrators and teachers take bullying a lot more seriously now then they did when I was growing up (Thank you Columbine), so I think talking to them would be an option that actually has a chance of working. Especially if the OP highlights the theft with pictures of him/herself wearing the chain and with the bike that has "gone missing".
And if that doesn't work, with theft involved, the Vishanti can go to the cops.
