Bodybuilding - Old school vs New school??

Arnold's left bicep is slacking.

Old school. It takes more effort and skill to craft a well rounded physique rather than just getting as big as possible.

I like old/mid school in terms of IFBB pro bodybuilding.
The 70's had guys like Arnold, Lou, and Frank Zane BUT it changed in the 80's-90's. Lee Haney, Flex Wheeler, Lee Priest, Shawn Ray and other incredible physiques. New age BBs look kind of cool but imo aren't as aesthetic as those guys I mentioned. In terms of new school, I only really like the men's physique category as that's my body type and they're more along the lines of the Flex Wheeler type of physique. The only new age pro bodybuilder I like is Kai Greene. Amazing legs, one of the best backs in bb history, great arm peaks, and great chest. He's better than Phil in a lot of ways.

@wolverine08: Uh I'd argue it takes skill and effort to put on that much muscle and still be able to be lean (more lean than a lot of old school BBs). They get that size then sculpt each and everything muscle they have. They have striations in their glutes! No one back then had that until the 80's and 90's. There is an incredible amount of discipline and dedication involved. lmao

Comparing OP's picture, Arnie looks good, the other guy looks like a hulking steroid monster, which may or may not be the case. (Sorry guys, but steroids have really hurt the perception of your sport)

For another idea, heres a picture of The Rock circa 1998, vs The Rock circa 2013. How much better did he look back then.

Old school for sure. I have met almost no bodybuilders of today that dont use steroids (not saying bodybuilders didnt a few decades ago, but rhe new guys use it to the point where they look unnatural)

I like old school better. These days, you have to be freakishly huge and I just don't like it that much. But I do think it might be a bit harder. My goal physique however unlikely is Arnold's.
