The feminism thread got me thinking about something I wanted to post on here but didn't, so now I will.

Hey Viners and black people. It's 2013, We've got a 'Black President' The worlds most famous Astrophysicist (Neil Degrasse Tyson) is black and one of the worlds most respected thinkers is Black(Malcolm Gladwell). Should we be stepping our game up? Are will still trying to figure out if 'Band's Make her dance'? Or why 'B****s Love Sosa'? When it's like open season on black folks in Chicago? Or are we all right and are things just taking longer than usual. Some one sound off.

This is a legit question I'd like answered.

African Americans are Stepping There Game Up... it's just there are still too many of us who have the "N!gga Mentality" and that is what is holding up sh!t for us.

People are black people are white big deal.

The sooner we stop judging people by their skin colour the better.

Oh boy here we go.

Race is still an underlined issue as we have seen through the actions of politicians with our president and the reactions of others. We also still see areas in poverty "ghettos" that keep many African Americans "and anyone else unfortunate to be there" in a viscous cycle of poverty, and illegal activities. I have spent my entire life in a low income neighborhood seeing countless kids of all races fall victim to a cycle of violence, drug deals and welfare. To say there is equality all across the board in the United States is ignoring alot of injustice in the United States.

#6 Posted by Nelomaxwell (10596 posts) - - Show Bio

@mrdecepticonleader: What does that have to do with the topic? Did you even read the op?

@mikethekiller: What's your take?

@Nelomaxwell:Yes I read the OP and that is where my issue lies.

#8 Posted by mikethekiller (8464 posts) - - Show Bio

@Nelomaxwell:We need to better educate our youth and keep them away from all the stereotypical crap the media is trying to feed them.

I'm still wondering where Native American History month is, they have one for black folks, Latinos and Asians. Did we trade or month for casinos? Actually that's not such a bad trade cause at least we get something good out of a trade with white folks for once.

#10 Posted by Xanni15 (6758 posts) - - Show Bio

@joshmightbe: I'm still wondering why any group of people have their own month. I would agree that getting casinos is a much better trade off, plus all of that free money for doing nothing other than being born. :]

Because that's what happens to people who are conquered and subjugated.

@Nelomaxwell: I was just joking about the history month thing but lets talk about that whole free money thing, its an established fact that more white people are on welfare than the number of Native Americans that are currently alive at this point in time so there's that.

1. Until we get equal representation, particularly in history, this is what we get

2. We celebrate our culture and accomplishments as a people during this month.

1. Nobody even cares, though, it's just a month. Do I have to constantly hear about how other White people were disgusting in enslaving people? Did I ever learn that some Black people sold their fellow brothers into slavery? No. If we're gonna have Black history, let's tell the whole history and not just the positives, and how MLK was a perfect human being.

2. All I'm saying is that your people shouldn't have to do it in just February. Take the entire year for all I care.

But our history in THIS COUNTRY IS something to be proud of, and it's, like Jamie Foxx said, "The evolution of freedom". My mother was looked at crazily for going to a swimming pool area with her white friend, when she was a child. Negative treatment isn't ancient. But progress isn't ancient either.

2. Even when we get full representation in history, I will still not mind having a month to actively reflect on my heritage, and the progression of my culture.

It will most likely get locked either way.

There was a very old trend of making "__________ only" topics and they all got locked.

The only reason this thread is lasting is because it's more open than threads in that trend.

@FalconPuuunch: Nah I encourage it. White people are under represented on this site.

2. Even when we get full representation in history, I will still not mind having a month to actively reflect on my heritage, and the progression of my culture.

1. The fact that people have to be force fed Black history. Not everyone knows these things, I certainly did not learn about them in school. It's not to bring down anyone, just that reflecting on the history of all people needs to be improved. And one way to change negative treatment is through education, and I'm not talking about History class during February. It's almost like the entire History class is about White people, then it stops and Black people take over in February, then March is back to White people

2. Why, though? Can't everyone just celebrate History equally throughout the year? If equality is the goal, then it should end there.
