Just wanted to invite any Viners to join the black nerd group I created on Facebook. Its a community where we can talk about the latest in Black Nerd Culture and Nerd culture in generally, and show our appreciation. I hope to see some of you there- Black Nerds United
Black Nerds United
I'm not Black but i might be a Nerd thought.
African American*
Note:Avalaible in smaller countries.
@rouflex: everything evolves around America.
I don't really use facebook anymore.

Not every black person has african decent. That's a stupid blanket term to use. Saying black is ok, people...
I don't really use facebook anymore.
I never used it. I WIN!!!
@rouflex: everything evolves around America.
Our Bucherons Stuff> Your Fatness.
@kingwillie: African American is the politically correct term for black people in America, the way it is commonly used is regardless of ones true ancestral heritage.
@rouflex: America isn't fat, we are full from freedom!!!

True. Except the States perhaps.

It's still wrong though. There's plenty of black people who aren't "African American" who would tell NOT to call them that. Cuz they aren't. Lol, politically correct. Black is just as politically correct. Which is why on alot of census sheets where you can pick your race it says "Black OR African American"
Just cuz alot of people use it doesn't mean it's right.. Those people would be WRONG.
@kingwillie: just because a lot of people use it, doesn't make it right, well that doesn't apply to definitions. They constantly change depending on how people use the words.
However, I'm not wanting to take this thread off topic with such a debate, such topics can evolve into something offensive.
@transformers1024: Then go to the Ritz, with the rest of the crackers :p
African American*
We prefer the term, "Blerd".
Yep. They represent the realness.
Anyone can join. I just wanted to create a group where "Blerd" could nerd out without any kind of stigma. There is still a lot of stigma put on Black nerds in the community, so I wanted to provide an outlet. But anyone can join, but a lot of the group will be about black centered nerd culture, like black characters, representation in popular culture, issues of race in the nerd community, etc. But its open and fun for everyone

You're on a website that is devoted entirely to the analysis, critiquing and general nerding out over comic books/movies/tv shows/etc. Pretty sure this "stigma" you speak of is virtually non existant.
@ordinaryalan: The Vine is of course a great place. But outside of here, there is still kind of a stigma on being a "nerd" in the black community. I've seen and experienced it first hand.

No problem. I am right though. Lol.
Wth is "black nerd culture"?
The same thing as regular nerd culture I guess? Except segregated from it apparently, lol....
Why separate ourselves anymore.. Why not just nerds united? It's like people separating "black history" from the rest of "American history", is our history not part of American history?
this is cool and all, but if there was something called a white nerds united, there would be comment after comment of this being racist.

@kingwillie: everyone thinks they are right.
@the_stegman: Wouldn't that make Black Geeks = Bleeks? Lol
@kingvenus: join the group, my fellow brotha.
