Well, which feat would classify as more impressive? Surviving a Black Hole, a Solar System Busting blast, or a Galaxy Busting Blast?

To my knowledge, one does not destroy a Black Hole.

So if you were in the Singularity of a Black Hole, or the heart of a Solar System Blast, or the Heart of a Galaxy Busting Blast, which one would the tougher to survive.

Please rate your answers (ex. Galaxy=Black Hole>Solar System)

Galaxy, obviously.

To my knowledge, one does not destroy a Black Hole.

And why is that?

Surviving a black hole doesn't really make any sense, it's impossible to quantify that feat.

There is no known object in this universe which can survive a Black Hole - not even light. Technically you can't destroy a Black Hole either but whatever.

@mandarinestro: That is theoretical. Its perfectly possible that everything being sucked into a blackhole is coming out on another side and could come out alive. Our knowledge of black holes is likely specious at best.

@spambot: What you said is equally if not more theoretical than what I said. Look up what Stephen Hawking said about black and white holes, he's suggesting black and white holes are the same.

Black Hole . . Is capable of engulfing all them .

No if there is blast that powerful . wouldn't the black Hole depending on size just engulf it.

A black hole cannot be destroyed and can be of any mass.

Only in fiction is a black hole capable of being destroyed.

Planets can survive supernovas at sufficient distance. Solar system shouldn't even be here.

Why is Solar System even here?

Galaxy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Solar System.

I'm still torn on the Galaxy vs Black Hole though. So little is known about it, and it depends on the mass of a Black Hole and several other factors.

There is supposedly a supermassive black hole at the center of our milky way galaxy that will eventually consume it...so surviving a black hole is pretty impressive.

There's no reason why a character like Thor couldn't just destroy or disperse the mass causing the black hole.

Isn't a black hole infinite mass or gravity?

I'd say a black hole, due to the fact that you'd have to be FTL to escape it.

Why is a solar system being compared to a galaxy?

Black hole - it depends. Supermassive black holes transcend even a galaxy, but the smallest ones obviously don't, though it's still arguable that surviving one is more impressive than a galactic blast.

And black holes might not be able to be outright destroyed, but they can evaporate.

Not true. The gravitational distortions would kill you before you even reached the black hole.

It depends how big the black hole is. Some black holes, are the size of galaxies. Some black holes, are microscopic.

Galaxy is better than solar system though, that's kind of a dumb question.

If black holes were infinite mass/gravity than the whole universe would be a black hole

I been actually reading alot about Black Holes. Everyone in this thread stating they cannot be destroyed or can be destroyed with certainty is flat out lying.

We have so little understanding and actual knowledge of Black Holes. The most we been able to do with Black Holes is "OBSERVE" them whenever we happen to see one, which in itself is damn near impossible. Anyone who took a science course knows for a fact Observation is the most simple, and basic understanding of anything. No tests, or experiments have been done on Black Holes, and until such time everything is a Theory on observation. Maybe they can be destroyed, they have to be able to be destroyed at some point in time. Science cannot understand what came before the Universe, or what will happen after its gone. We do know Energy cannot be destroyed, and anything in a black hole with mass cannot simply vanish. So where does that energy or mass go in a black hole? There is no answers!

In short surviving a Black Hole is impressive as we know the energy it puts out forces even light to bend. Thats just scientifically insane. So surviving a Black Hole is insane impressive.

Galaxy busting blast >> Solar system blast >> Black hole in fiction. Way too many characters survive black holes..

In real life, surviving a black hole is.. well, still quantifiable. But it can be less than solar system, to far, far higher. Nowhere near galaxy in any case at all.

Some black holes, are the size of galaxies.

What? No they're not..

actually yes. Scientist believe it may be possible that the center of our Galaxy is a super black hole that in time will devour our galaxy, and its theorised out there is black holes that already devoured their host galaxy and we may drift towards one and never know.

Remember most knowledge of Black Holes are all theory, and nothing is really much fact to them or where they are.

As many scientist say time and again, 99% of everything in this universe is design to kill us. If God made creation, then he must thought how funny the obstacle course of impending doom he set up for us humans really is.

um, no.

Yes, the black hole may devour the galaxy after billions of years, but it doesn't get bigger than a galaxy... Nor more impressive, ever.

@princearagorn1: Not right now, but there should be some documentaries or websites that talk about incredibly vast black holes.

There's one that had a mass of 40 billion times that of the sun, to my knowledge.
