Best Melee warrior in all of history

lets say the absolute best fighter of each type (viking, samurai, ninja etc) go at it.

who reigns supreme. no ranged weapons of any kind. standard armor

A similar thread was made a few months ago I think. They made a tourney out of it but I do not know who won.

But I went with the Swiss Guard/Swiss Pikemen

Genghis Khan.

While an accomplished swordsman Kahn was more known for his excellent horsemanship and archery.

The whole reason Genghis and the Mongols were superior in combat was because of their marskmanship and archery coupled with their high mobility.

Musashi Miyamoto would get my vote.

If Achilles is real, he probably was. I mean, everyone thought that period of history was filled with fantasy, until they discovered Agamemnon's tomb. So Achilles, or whoever inspired his stories.

Or maybe Leonidas I of Sparta, or Alexander the Great, Alexander (unlike lots of people of his time) fought on the front lines with his troops. But I've also heard that Genghis Khan was pretty tough.

If you're talking about the best melee warriors, i.e. best group, then it depends on the time period. Late medieval English knights were pretty insane because of their powerful plate armour, mid-middle ages Normandy, early middle ages Norwegian or Danish vikings.
