Best free multiplayer computer game.

i'm looking for a free game i could download to play with some distant friends.

Any suggestions?

Star Trek Online is free.

And I think Lord of the Rings Online is free as well

@KraytRawk: Depends what type of game you're after. Tribes Ascend is a pretty good fps.

There's also Champions Online, a superhero-based on MMO which offers a basic free-to-play model. The same goes for Dungeons and Dragons Online.

@KraytRawk: Do not goto ijji, they are being taken over by aeriagames . com and ijji just sucks. Nexon is slightly better. Also aeriagames isn't such a good place to look for a game, they are mostly games that are wallet sink holes, as most of them are old and starting new just isn't worth the time.

I suggest playing league of legends, although not really an MMO per say, it's a decent RTS game.
