MORTAL KOMBATTTTTTTT!!!!!!.........at the moment
Super Smash Bros., which was, at the time, probably the most original fighting game ever made.

Super Smash Bros. is not a fighting game, it's a kiddy brawler.

Mortal Kombat, I think it broke the barrier of fighting games. Next would have to be Street Fighter
But super smash brothers is awesome too xD
ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 and marvel vs capcom 2 and x-men vs street fighter

Mortal Kombat 9 really raised the bar. Not everyone will love the gameplay, but there's no disputing they stepped it up in regards to single player.
Agreed.
I always thought DOA fighting games were the best because they just seemed so much more fluent then all the others.
SF 3 Third Strike
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Tekken 3
Soul Calibur 1
Smash Brothers Melee (Saddly the franchise sucks today)

That people dont notice how bad the DOA franchise is for the Fighting Games.
F@KC TH@T G@M3
DOA3
Street fighter 3
SF 3 Third Strike
Tekken 5
Capcom vs Snk 2
So many to choose but i did enjoy Soul Calibur when it first came out..
I'm not sure how DOA fighting games hurt the genre?? but ok
I'm also a big fan of the Bushido Blade series (probably most realistic fighting game since one slice of a katana in the face would probably end it).I also really liked the Wu Tang: Shaolin Style fighting game back in the day due to it's variety of characters and special moves.
I was never a big fan of playing the arcade fighting games but that's just cause I never cared for the game play. Probably why I was drawn to other types of fighters that other fans of the genre would be like "what" you like that game? (Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus)
Maybe that it explains why it made grown men feel like kids again. Games are made to have fun.Super Smash Bros. is not a fighting game, it's a kiddy brawler.
I like Super Street Fighter IV quite a bit at the moment, well, since it's release. Mortal Kombat is a strong second though. I tried MVC 3, but that wasn't my cup of tea, but my friends love it.

Soul Calibur
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Mortal Kombat
X-Men: Children of the Atom
Marvel Super Heroes (Infinity Gems)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2/Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Tekken 2
Tekken Tag Tournament
Mortal Kombat
Super Smash Bros Melee
DBZ BT3
Mortal Kombat 9 for sure. It has a certain flow that I just love.
Def Jam Vendetta: Fight For NY is another great fighting game.
My third favorite would have to be Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 (Frank West FTW!)
