Poll Best Era Of Music? (65 votes)
What is the best era of music?
What is the best era of music?
They all got some highs and lows but all my personal favorite bands were mostly active in 2000-2010.
Gonna go with 90's would have almost gone for 80's. The meaning of the songs coming out lately are really retarted. Especially AVICII, Taio Cruz and the likes.
@warlock360: You just don't listen to the right modern music lol
Top 5 in this order..
From about 1960 to 1974 was the best in my opinion. There was good and great music made after 1974, but those were the golden years.
@lunacyde: hit me with some songs then, and they need to outweigh the majority of bad ones that are pop at the moment
All decades have their good music and bad music. That's why I'm not voting in the poll. I dont see any one being better than the others. It usually just comes down to what decade you grew up in. Nostalgia is too big a factor.
Objectively speaking, the poll is hardly fair. "1930 and below" includes almost all of music history, including:
The reason I said "1930 and below" is because I didn't feel like listing every single era since the creation of music.

Sure, I understand... just saying that it might have been better to just exclude everything below that for practical reasons. You cant compare thousands of years of music to individual decades.
Also, it's hard to objectively determine which decade had "better" music. Might have been best to have the poll on "favorite" decades of music, rather than "better".
@warlock360: Wait, do they have to be pop, or any particular genre?
80s
Arguably the greatest heavy metal albums of all time came out in the 80s
Number of the Beast
Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
Rust in Peace
Reign in Blood
Piece of Mind
Powerslave
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son

My thoughts exactly.
90s to early 2000's
This for me. Hip-hop particularly was at its pinnacle in the 90s. And mainstream pop in the early 2000s was still tolerable.
Besides this being a totally matter of opinion, 60s by far was the best.

is that decision influence by a certain group of 4 men name after a certain insect.
@hawkguy: a metal head? Who is your favorite?
I think the 60s and 70s really started to see a transformation with Rock in the mix. Though I like 90s Rock the best.

Hell yeah Iron Maiden.
It's hard for me though, a lot of my favorite bands were from the 80s, but I do like a lot of 90s and modern stuff (2000+)

Slightly....it's mostly based of of the fact the fact that the 60s was an explosion of what fueled everything afterwards.

Damn, a favorite modern metal band? That's tough... I'll go with Mors Principium Est. Their album this year, "...And Death Said Live", blew me away.
If you're not a fan of harsh vocals, you've been warned
You?
@lunacyde: my initial comment was directed towards the "pop" of that decade, I am well aware that prodigious musical talents are overflowing more than ever but the ones that hog all the pop attention are just blatant horribad.
40-70's would probably be the best era for love music IMO.
80-90's-Rock, Boy bands
Early 2000's are also good other than that I don't really get much of the music right now. There's a lot of weird artist/singers and I just find them too freaky. lol

OK, you got me there.
A few good bands break through into good pop these days. Personally I like Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, Philip Phillips, etc.
Most of the stuff I love is pretty obscure though.
