Best band of the 90's
Seeing as it's difficult to choose from the list alone, I'll just stick with it. Radiohead slightly tops my list with Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins coming close behind.
Nirvana all day, every day.
Claymore knows what's up. "Come As You Are" is one of the greatest songs ever. Ever. EVER.
Finally my friend, you are being enlightened. I like that ^_^

Easily the Melvins. One of the most influential and creative bands of any decade. Signed to a major and never compromised. Band is constantly evolving and breaking new ground. 21 studio albums and counting.
My favourite band of the 90's is Blind Melon.
If it's about who's the most influential then definitely Nirvana.
No Enya on the list :-(
Wasn't she 80s???
NIN was founded in 1988. So technically it was not a 90's band. Still my all time favorite band though.
Anyways for OP; Nirvana.
@cattlebattle: Ah okah same as NIN then
@mr_clockwork91: This list has nothing to do with when all of these bands were formed. It has to do with which band put out the best music in your opinion during the decade.
@impurestcheese: I don't think of Enya as being a band. Were the poll about musical artists I could maybe see her being included but not as a band.
Are you kidding me?
Godsmack, System of a Down, Children of Bodom. There are so many bands that imo, decimate anyone on this list.
Alice In Chains all the way. Also:

None of these bands peaked before 2003, at the earliest.
Nirvana all day, every day.
Meh, I didn't like Teen SPirit. I'm only grateful that they gave us Dave Grohl :D
Green Day is the only band I listened to from that list, and even then, I didn't like them until American Idiot.
@WarBlade539: Its always a matter of opinion.

Well geez maybe if learn to read, so NIN then.

Something dares to question the greatness of Smells like Teen Spirit, kill it with fire i say...
Nirvana is pretty great and I won't argue anyone picking them but I personally prefer Alice in Chains.
@farkam: That's actually a pretty respectable choice ^_^

Okay. Bands that put out their best work in the 90s. Pantera, Death, Sepultura, Dark Tranquility.
@longbowhunter: i will 2nd that ! Some of the most devastatingly heavy music i listen too.
@hayden86: glad to know someone backs me up on my bid for the Melvins. And anyone voting for Tool or Nirvana, just know that the Melvins layed the ground work for both of those bands.
Nirvana.
Sonic Youth.
Sonic Youth, and the Pixies........ I see your avatar....... Where's the Flaming Lips?
@longbowhunter: You nailed it again ! countless genres have been inspired by the Mels.
As for a vote on this pole i would even say Dinosaur Jr. Very good independent band.
As well as the band Flipper
@rd189: Bodom formed in 93 and blow up in 97 with the record'Something Wild ' in the EU. Granted not a lot of people knew about them in America at the time. I would say they are a late 90s band and as for when they hit a high point that is up for debate. I think after the 3rd album 'Follow The Reaper ' the band became more vanilla. And by that i mean each new record after the 3rd had very little to offer other then a few catchy tracks and a cover of oops i did it again.
Tool.
Though to be fair there were a crapton of awesome bands in the 90's.
Bingo.
Never understood the appeal of Nirvana personally. But I do like the Foo Fighters, so you know, Dave Grohl and all.
@ryagan: Massive Radiohead fan,but i gotta say Nirvana too
I'm gonna be crucified for this, but Matchbox Twenty is personally my favorite band and they just so happen to come out during the '90s.
@longbowhunter: If you are going there where the hell is Fugazi???
