Avatars useage

So im interested to know and please feel free to point me to the right thread if it has already been asked.

If one viner is using a certain character for their avatar as an ongoing thing (like when i was using Jessica rabbit) is it poor form to use the picture? Not only that is it really fair for a viner to hold onto a certain character as a constant avatar, esp one from a comic? I mean yes, it is poor form to steal the EXACT av that someone is using, but is it ok to use the same character?

and no this is not aimed at anyone, i was simply thinking about it the other day when i wanted to use a pic of a charrie but i stopped cause i know another viner uses that character

i don't see anything wrong with people having similar or the same avatars....It can be annoying, but unless you hold some copyrights to the image then it's free for anyone to use.

Yes it is poor form.....but only if both the Viners have been around for a while. Noobs don't count they don't know....or are expected to.

Personally I'd be pissed if someone started using the Icarus pic. Or If someone started using Gambit, or Havok, or Cyclops, or Anita Blake, ect.

I don't have a problem with it. Then again, there isn't anyone jacking my avs.

Oh I agree that it is poor form to use the exact same picture, but quite often there are hundreds of pictures of big characters and for someone to use an alternative one.. why is that not ok?

But I want to know who made up the rule? why did it become poor form? I mean yes of course DONT EVER use the EXACT same av someoen is using, but hell if your anything like me and Sha your avs change almost daily, I have seen others use old pics of mine and had no problem with it, hell we all pass them around too.

Im just concerend about people deciding characters are THEIRS.. idk Im just trying to ease up the ownership and bitchiness that goes on around here.. starting at the bottom.

The only reason I could see to get upset is if you photoshopped a custom av and somebody blatantly ripped it off out of your own gallery. Anything on the site though should be fair game.

I agree with those who say its "poor form" to use thee Exact same avatar. But lets be honest, most of the time that only happens when someone is trying to get a reaction from someone else. Also you cant really expect to be the only person who likes a certain character, especially the popular ones. There's some users on here who ONLY use avatars they see other  Viners using. In my personal opinion, its bound to happen and no one has exclusive rights to one particular character (Gambler :P j/k).

It is definitely looked frowned upon and looked down on. Especially if you rip it right from their gallery. The icon they are using as a Avatar or it be the one that is the main picture on their page. When it is done out of spite, which happens a lot recently that's just out right not called for. Besides that I think Gambler, Hawk, and Slinger hit on some good points.

It's not too big a deal, though, especially if the other person uses it for a secondary account (I mean, with all the Sha accounts out there, some people are bound to use one of the 175 characters Sha used for her accounts :P).

Is it really that bad if the person is okay with it? Honestly, It's bound to happen someway or another....
