I know that a lot of people have said it was great and amazing and all that. But, I have to say, It was amazing and great, and wonderful and inspiring. As I watched it in 3D, I found myself wanting to be one of them, and wanting to learn the language of Na'Vi.
When I left, It was like I had a whole new respect for nature, and what it could potentially be. Not that it will ever be like that, or that we'll ever be able to conect with the Earth and it's animals on such an intimate level. but it was just so enthrawling, and captivating that I wanted to leave earth, and go to Pandora...
I LOVED THIS MOVIE SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH...and I truly believe that it was our generations Star Wars, and that people will eventually speak Na"Vi as they do Cling-on, and they will paint thier bodies blue...(I'll be one of them...XD)
I don't get what's so special in that movie . Yeah , it's good and i liked it , but it doesn't inspire me to do something . And i didn't shout like : " WHOAAA , that was fucking awesome ! " after watching it . But if you're so excited because of this film , well , it's good that you have such feelings , some films can be indeed so great that you wanna be the part of it . It's just that i didn't really like it so MUCH as you because it doesn't have the parts that ( for me ) the awesome movie must consist of . That's my opinion .

Let him be. He obviously really liked the Avatar. Realistically the actual plot of Star Wars and a lot of other oscar nominated films were pretty predictable and average.
If it causes him to be a better human ecologically speaking who are you to shit on his opinion?
My only concern is that he spelled Klingon: "Clingon"
The movie needed to have a story that everyone could follow. I think that's why the story was simple. But, the mixture of elements thrown in made the movie stand out. With a budget of over 200 million, the risk of making the story something more complex may of not appealed, or garnered popularity it has right now to create new sequels. Most films take chunks of older pieces, and most are from mythology. Just like people who enjoy popcorn movies, I've seen the same old story millions of times. It's just movies that like to blow sh!t up, with no real background to it. I liked the movie. It had heart, and I agree with Slight. It's this(my) generation's Star Wars.
This generation's star wars, eh? Maybe I should get my self into gear and go and see it, else my kid may look at me the same way I look at my folks who never saw Star Wars at the cinema first time round.

I really liked it as well, and although it didn't really inspire me, I'm glad that it inspired you to be more ecologically conscience (or what-have-you).

This movie is getting grief for unoriginality because it is just about the only drawback. If it had a fresher and less overused plot, it would have been a nearly perfect movie. People just can't over that one thing that kept it from being truly epic.
