Are whites being racially oppressed in America?

(NB this post was inspired by the "Law And Order "episode "Subterranean Homeboy Blues"(which in turn was evidently inspired by subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz. A white woman, Laura Di Biase( Cynthia Nixon) shoots two black youths on the subway, claiming that she feared being either mugged, murdered or presumably raped. At one stage Di Biase compares herself in effect to a woman of colour resisting racialized and sexist violence during the "Jim Crow" period of segregation and before that slavery in the old Deep South but ADA Paul Robinette-Richard Brooks- who is of course black, rejects this comparison. Despite this Di Biase is acquitted).

It has become the fashion in some quarters(not just avowedly white supremacist such as Stormfront but also conservative ones that "the wheel has turned full circle"- in effect white has become"the new black" (and a white person accused of killing an African American will receive no more justice than a black accused of murdering a white.(full disclosure: I am thinking of the prisonm drama "Orange Is The New Black")

In other words folks, the former oppressors and persecutors have become the persecuted and oppressed.

As with claims of "anti-Christian persecution " in America, to quote tennis star John McEnroe- "YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!!!"

This claim is an insult to every member of a minority group that (pace African and Native Americans, to a lesser extent Hispanics and Jews) that felt the full force of a racially oppressive state- that was not only last hired but first fired and was the victim of unethical, inhumane and abusive medical experiments

(see "Medical Apartheid: The Dark History Of Medical Experimentation On Black Americans From Colonial Times To The Present" by Harriet Washington, Doubleday, 2007)!!!

I think there's a movement in some quarters of the far left to paint white people as the devil, but it's not a very big movement and no, we aren't being oppressed.

Italy. As I said, we have our own problems. I'm just underlying how a foreigner notices how dominant and even annoying is the issue of racism in your culture.

@jaken7: MMATycoon. Hope it's ok to mention. We have two names there and I use Johnny Sorrow as my manager name and IrishX for the forums. I had the top ranking for a while but it can't last forever. It's text based and it can take a really long time to build fighters so there isn't a very large community. Most people would rather just play UFC on Xbox and that's understandable. It says there is about 5k active users but because of multi accounts (which are forbidden) it's probably closer to 3-4k really.

I'm glad I read fully though the OP. I agree with your resounding No.

I doubt any or many people on this site think whites are being racially oppressed.

However, to digress a little, I know several people IRL who think you can't be "racist" against whites(because racism has to be systematic). Which I disagree with. These people come from the Sociology perspective of racism having to be systematic, but there are other definitions and smaller degrees--And I profoundly look down on Sociology. (Like, I can't take an arrogant Sociology major saying only their definition is correct, seriously. I cannot take you Sociology majors seriously, you're like Social Psychology Lite)

White tears is a phrase use when white people try to relate something like affirmative action and/or not being able to say the word ni**a with the oppression that blacks and other minorities have faced and still continue to face.

I hate to play Devil's Advocate, but yes at times. Affirmative Action is screwing us over really.

Let's not confuse a few incidents of whites being harassed to racial oppression. There's actually some whites out there who may've gotten jumped by blacks in their youth that now feel they're discriminated against by society.

An that whole affirmative action stuff may be screwing you over but it doesn't necessarily mean you're being oppressed. I don't think a few whites being discriminated against automatically leads to a race's struggle. Still things going on such as the War on Drugs and the prison industrial complex that's harming black males more than whites.
