If anyone resides in these nations/ US states, do they have any knowledge of the following laws, all of which are technically still active? And would you consider putting your new knowledge to good use, either by engaging in any of the perfectly legal activities in these locations, by taking full advantage of these laws, or by calling people out for breaking these laws?

  • In China, it is illegal for adult children to not visit their parents 'often'. They are also required to attend to their parent’s spiritual needs.
  • In South Carolina, nobody above the age of 16-years-old is allowed to perform a marriage proposal if they 'do not mean it'.
  • In Arkansas, a husband is allowed to beat his wife, but only once a month.
  • In Rhode Island, a union can be considered invalid under the grounds that the party is deemed to be, collectively, an idiot or a lunatic.
  • In Iowa, it is illegal for a man with a mustache to kiss a woman in public.
  • In Massachusetts, it is deemed illegal for a woman to be on top during sex.
  • In Oregon, talking dirty while having sex is illegal.
  • In Utah, a husband is held to be responsible for his wife’s actions (instead of her) as long as he is with her at the time.
  • In Britain, it is illegal to carry a plank along the pavement.
  • In Hong Kong, a wife is allowed to kill her husband if she finds him cheating (provided that she does so with her bare hands).
  • In New York City, it is illegal to honk your horn (doing so carries a $350 fine).
  • In Florida, it is illegal to fart in a public place after 6pm on a Thursday.
  • In Samoa, it is illegal to forget your wife’s birthday.
  • In Britain, it is illegal to be drunk in the pub.
  • In Turin, Italy, dog owners must take their dogs on a walk at least three times a day.
  • In Honolulu, Hawaii, it is illegal to sing loudly after sunset.
  • In Sweden, it is illegal to be found buying the services of a prostitute (even though prostitution is legal).
  • In the UK, all males over the age of 14 are required to be trained in shooting a long bow.
  • In Switzerland, it is illegal to flush a toilet after 10pm.
  • In Canada, any comic book that portrays illegal activity is banned.
  • In Tennessee, it is legal to carry a loaded firearm into a bar.
  • In Norway, all Norwegians must go out on expeditions to rape and plunder at least once every five years.

I'm pretty sure most of those laws aren't enforced. but how would they be able to know if people are breaking the laws about sex?

The majority of these laws aren't actively enforced, but all of these laws are technically still active right now. And with the laws on sex- well, you could always call the guilty party out, calling attention to the law and trying to get them arrested. Dissatisifed spouses, take note. For instance, if you want to get the ultimate revenge against your cheating husband, perhaps you could arrange a nice trip to Hong Kong together? Or, if you don't think you're up to the task of killing him with your bare hands, you could go to Utah with him, committing crimes yourself and using the law to make him serve time for your crimes instead of you. Or, if you get/got married in South Carolina or Rhode Island, you could potentially use these laws to get your marriage annuled in a heartbeat. And as for the NYC one- forget about the pittance that you'd generate from congestion charging. If the NYC city council really wants a money-spinner, the law's already there. All they need to do is enforce it, and they'll be rolling in it (ever more so than they already are) in no time...

That's not really a commonly enforced law.

Those hang around because it costs too much money (bureaucracy) to nix them. If ever someone attempted to use them in court now, it would never hold. By the way, Canada is like Sweden with the prostitution bit.

Thank you for telling me which city/country not to go to, or at least stay there very long considering most of these aren't really enforced.
