They are almost completely free of superhero related nominations (1 for Iron Man 2 I think is all). The lack of suspense would kill me probably. Colin Firth and Natalie Portman are locks. Would like to see Amy Adams win though for best supporting. Even then I will probably skip the whole thing and just check what happened in the morning (might watch the arrivals for the fashion though.)
Anyone watching the academy awards tonight?
I can't say I'm terribly inclined to spend an evening watching Hollywood pat itself on the back. As talented as the award-winners may be, they're still just people doing their jobs. Considering that most of them make more in a single afternoon of pretending to be someone else in front of a camera (or telling other people how to pretend to be someone else in front of a camera) than your typical elementary school teacher or ER nurse will make in their lifetime makes the whole event seem just a little bit ridiculous, in my view.
A couple of years ago i watched them, when The Departed won and the one after that. It certainly is an amusing affair.
" Nope, will just be keeping an eye on if Natalie get the props she deserves. "For Black Swan, right?

My predictions:
Actor in a leading role: Colin Firth
Actor in a supporting role: Christian Bale (although I haven't seen Winter's bone to be fair)
Actress in a leading role: Nataly Portman
Actress in a suporting role: Hailee Stenfield
Animated feature film: Toy Story 3
Directing (still mad that Nolan isn't even a nominee): Black Swan
Short film: Day & Night
Foreign movie: Biutiful
Visual effects: Inception
Best movie: I think the best one is black swan but I have a feeling the king's speech will win
the rest I either don't care enough or haven't checked most options to give an idea
" no, if True Grit wins anything thats B.S. that movie sucked! "I know!
If it wins best picture I riot!
127 hours deserves it.

The Oscars are a sham, Slumdog Millionaire beating the Dark Knight is proof of that, I'll be staying away.
