Anybody here Read A Song of Ice and Fire?

I started reading book one the other day. love it so far.

Its on my to-read list. Which always seems to grow faster than I can trim it down...

Yeah, I read them all so far. If you just started, get ready to feel depressed (not because of bad writing, but because of heartbreaking tragedy)

I've been reading a lot of fantasy books the last several years. One thing I've noticed is that the genre tends to be very formulaic and cookie cutter. Most books strictly follow the 'hero's journey', with a young man who experiences tragedy and goes off the face the big evil. Seen it a thousand times (Star Wars being the most obvious example). That premise bores the hell out of me at this point.

A Song of Ice and Fire successfully breaks away from that tired formula. Along with a few other fantasy series (The First Law series, The Left Hand of God trilogy to name a few), it has renewed my faith in the fantasy genre.

Yeah, I'm at page 650 in a Clash Of Kings.

I started, but found it to have little plot, a lot of exposition and circular events. Didn't like it at all :(

I have. Just have to finish the last book. I have to say Storm of Swords is my favorite (mostly because of Jaime). But the latest one is a bit meh.. Too many storylines going on.

Yeah, and its pretty good.
