@PunkMastaFlex: I thought Insidious was good. It's mainly jump scare but it's still a good movie for someone who doesn't like the gore. There is some blood but not much. Also The Strangers and Paranormal Activity 1 are great.

The Haunting in Connecticut. I even live in CT (which btw is the most boring place ever). It failed to scare me. That's not bragging btw. I'm scared pretty easily. This couldn't even make me flinch. Nevertheless it is a horror movie and as a movie overall it was pretty good.

I don't watch many horror movies(just recently starting to watch some of the older Friday the 13th movies), but I recommend Evil Dead.  It's old and some of the effects look a little cheap, but it was an indie film, generally an entertaining movie, and it's one of the few horror movies out of the couple I've seen that creeped me out.  I don't recommend it however if either of you don't like demonic possession, limbs being severed, or general frantic scenes with blood pouring down pretty much anything in a room.

I don't understand why I found The Grudge (American version) to be scarier than The Grudge (Japanese version). The Japanese version simply didn't scare me that much.  *shrugs*
you are not alone. Raimi crushed Ju-on with the Grudge.

Trick R' Treat has been the best horror movie I have seen in years.

Dagon had some cool moments and is probably the closest to the Cthulhu mythos outside of the Call of Cthulhu silent film put out by the Lovecraft society people.
