American Hunter Defends Trophy Kill Photos

In the wake of the death of Cecil the lion, another hunter had sparked outrage for posting a photo of herself with a dead giraffe.

A US hunter who sparked public outrage after posting pictures of herself next to a dead giraffe has defended her actions.

Sabrina Corgatelli's images on her Facebook page unleashed a torrent of online abuse in the wake of the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe by US dentist Walter Palmer.

But speaking on the US-based Today show, Ms Corgatelli hit back at her critics."Everything I've done here is legal, so how can you fault somebody because of their hobbies?" she said.

"Everybody just thinks we're cold-hearted killers, and it's not that. There is a connection with the animal, and just because we hunt them doesn't mean we don't have a respect for them."Giraffes are very dangerous animals. They could hurt you seriously very quickly."

Ms Corgatelli put the photos on her Facebook page with the accompanying comment: "Such a (sic) amazing animal!! I couldn't be any happier!! My emotion after getting him was a feeling I will never forget!!!".She has also uploaded photos of several other kills, including a warthog, an impala, and a wildebeest. The photos were taken during a legal hunting trip in South Africa, US news reports said.

Three US airlines have now banned the transport of lion, leopard, elephant, rhino or buffalo killed by trophy hunters, following the death of Cecil.

American Airlines said on Tuesday today it would join Delta Airlines and United Airlines in banning the transport of such animals' remains.

Mr Palmer is facing calls for his extradition to Zimbabwe to face justice for killing Cecil.

Two Zimbabwean men allegedly hired by Mr Palmer have already appeared in court on charges of poaching.

Why is she wearing make up and why did she curl her hair to go on a safari hunt? Looks like she cared more for the photo after then actually the "thrill" of the hunt.

Animal hunting has been going on for centuries. I don't know why folks are surprised.

True! Thats my bad. I still think that its good its getting some attention now even if it has been going on for awhile and no one then said anything. Yes its been happening for quite awhile, maybe people are finally gonna realize its problem. And if it had to take a popular lion to die for it then so be it.

I believe in hunting for eating is fine but not for "trophy".

Yep, that's what I can't stand about this.

The "big tough game hunters" who brag about saving innocent villagers whilst getting their imitation Viagra/ trophy at least faced a risk- which is where the "connection with the animal" comes from (I assume, hunter & hunted, etc.).

If they want to fight them hand to hand I have no problem, bringing guns to kill these animals is pathetic. Hunting has its place, trophy hunting does not.

If you don't eat meat, then you can legitimately complain about this woman killing for sport, but if you make animals suffer and die because you enjoy the pleasure of eating meat and yet you whine about this lady killing an animal for the pleasure of hunting, you are the largest of hypocrites.

And don't tell me, "It's different because trophy hunter's don't eat the meat!" Hunters almost always eat the meat themselves or donate the meat to charity. People like you (those criticizing this lady) just get a thrill of faux righteous indignation by condemning someone who kills animals personally, yet you have the audacity to feel morally superior while enjoying your Big Mac knowing Full well that you paid someone to slaughter that animal for you.

And we don't need to go around killing animals like giraffeas, not anymore. We have our own cattle. If people wanted to have big ass trophies to show, they should go around searching for pysicopaths, loch ness monster of the bigfoot. You can't get better trophies than that.

In my opinion; If we can hunt animals, than animals should be able to hunt us and we couldn't complain as well.

The only connection she has with the animal is the bullet in its body that came from her gun.

What do you mean "if?" There is no if. Simply stop eating meat. You can Google what supplements you need to take to make up for the lack of meat, and then it's nothing but discipline. People do it all the time.

Why is it okay to kill cattle but not giraffes? Do you have a personal vendetta against cows? Did a bovine shoot your pa? Giraffes are animals. Cattle are animals. We can kill them for the betterment of humanity because humans > animals.

Also, killing psychopaths for trophies is illegal. You literally just suggested that she should stop killing animals and start killing people. Priorities!

You seem to be arguing that animals are equal to humans. (which makes you quite a monster for eating meat, by the way) If you believe that, fine. Live your values. Stop eating meat, stand up for canine suffrage and turn yourself into the nearest precinct the next time you step on an ant.

Humans are also animals. We are only superior because of our inteligence, but we are pretty much outclassed in every physical terms with many animals.
