Should American High Schools disband their sports teams and replace them with something more inclusive? There is also an unhealthy culture where winning is everything.
American education
We should make it where winning is nothing.
If nobody wins than there will be no reason to compete, and if there is no reason to compete, nobody will ever feel disappointment, and if nobody ever feels disappointment, then they will never strive to better themselves to overcome their shortcomings, and nobody tries to improve themselves, we will finally live in the utopia we all desire.
No sports teaches you discipline and bettering yourself to win. I do believe that no kid should be forced to play sports.
I say the unhealthy culture is in saying that mediocrity is to be celebrated.
Plus, how are we going to show the world we own them if we don't dominate the Olympics every year? =)
Sports can teach sportsmanship, cooperation, how to win through adversity, and maybe more importantly it can teach you how to handle losing. It generates money for schools. It raises community, team spirit and brings them together. It can also teach you healthy living and keep you fit. It can do all these things.
I personally don't like sports but it's not a bad thing.
