If machamp is a mountain buster, does that mean that any pokemon who can take a punch from a machamp and keep going has mountain busting level durability?

Pokedex entries are highly inconsistent from which actually shown. Just like when they claimed Hitmonchan punched at relativistic speed....that isn't anywhere close to being true.

@dccomicsrule2011: When gauging it against the anime it's untrue, but pokedex entries are official game data. If a pokemon, in game, were able to take a punch from a machamp would that make their durability mountain level?

But I agree, the pokedex entries are pretty wildly inconsistent and don't make a lot of sense lol. Still fun to speculate.

@spitfirepanda:

Most pokedex have some wierd/impossibel feat or even incorrect moves for that Pokémon. For Example some Charizard´s entries said that his flames are powerful enough to melt rock but that doesnt happen on rock type pokemon which are ressitant and strong to fire.

@vitalius: True. And gardevoir can create a small black hole, but if that had ever been tested it would have meant the end of the pokemon world :(

You think the rock type pokemon are the same durability as the earth rocks? Thats like saying Colosus from x men is a steel type so if someone can melt metal then that means colosus should be melted to. Just because rock type pokemon are made of a rock based material doesnt mean they are the same durabilty as rock. Same as colosus being metal based doesnt mean he is the same durability as steel. So just because charizard can melt boulders doesnt mean onix is supposed to melt to since he is made out of rock material.

pokemon have made black holes before but they are pueseudo black holes. Not the same as real ones.

Anyways besides all that some pokemon show feats way greater than the pokedex in the anime and manga but you guys dont get upset when they do that. You only complain when someone brings up pokedex.

It was a exemple like Pidgeot speed suposed to be at Speed of sound but Pokémon like Jynx is faster than it, does mean that she is faster than the speed of sound? Plus if Charizard flames were that powerful that wouldnt mean his flames would actually do more damage ? I think Collosus´s comparation is wrong,

Well some pokedex entries doesnt make sense like if a human was tranform into Kadabra, what happen to Abra or Alakazam´s line. Or Machamp capable of destroying a montain with one punch or ponyta has hooves are 10 times harder than diamonds or even can jump very high and far away. Yeah some pokemon on manga and anime were strong because they either were suposed to special like Manga´s haunter or 1000 years old Ninetales with ilusion/psychic powers.

No because you are saying rock type pokemon should be the same durability as earth rock when thats not true. Thats like saying because pikachus thunder is strong enough to incinerate a metal bike that it should cause more damage to metal type pokemon. A rock and a rock type pokemon are not the same so saying charizards fire should do more damage because its stated and shown it can melt rocks is bullcrap.

Besides that pokemon have displayed feats faster than sound before. Now am saying pokemon is consistent? hell no. But people saying nah pokemon are slow and weak and then when i show a feat of them doing things faster than the speed of sound or something with durability everyone is like well that's bullcrap and shouldn't count cause so and so is suppose to be so and so and they shouldn't be as fast as so and so.

On anime there were special moves and pokemon like Pikachu´s attack that were power up or Mismagius can use spell to make people happy or Future sight can make that Pokémon and his/her trainer can have a vision of future. Plus sometimes anime has some errors like May´s Skitty was hit by Houndoom´s Shadow Ball, Dawn´s Piplup can use Bide as special move and Princess Salvia´s Togekiss can use Safeguard to do damage to Jessie´s Serviper or even Dawn´s Ambipoom can use Double Hit sucessfully on a Haunter.

Not really. There are plenty of instances where the Pokemon weren't special and still showed high feats. Hell there have been pokemon who were wild and had no prior training from a trainer and still showed high feats. Im not saying there arent episodes where the pokemon was special and had their power hyped up but there are plenty of times where a pokemon who wasnt a ghost type or special who showed feats that even surpassed the pokedex.

Another good example would be the thing.

Way more durable than rocks

Oh my bad.

But who was the one who claimed hitmonchan can punch at lightspeed. Because the pokedex doesnt even claim that.

It was claimed in the original Pokedex handbook. It was later changed to bullet train.

Just because you can punch out a mountain, does not mean every one of your punches will punch out a mountain.

Not every attack exchanged by 2 combatants is 100% full power. In fact, I would say almost none of them are.

That goes for anybody.
