A game to help me get the hang of the ps controller?

I haven't really had the PS 3 for long, I've been using it mostly for the blue ray player and I would like to try some games, but I'm having trouble getting the hang of the controler, I've mostly done console games up till now. I find the character control combinations on the DC Arkham games a bit too much and I can never get them in sequence fast enough. Can any of you suggest a game that can get me some practice with the controller but not be boring?

Maybe a fighting game. Mortal Kombat 9 is a pretty good choice.
