hahahaha.
90's......90's and 90's, aka the last decade before mainstream rock became a suckfest, my favorite band in the world came out in the 90's Alice in chains.
Also
- Stone Temple Pilots
- Paw
- Nirvana
- Soundgarden
- Killswitch Engage
- The Warlocks
- Gruntruck
- Hammerbox
Along with all the other Hard rock/Grunge badasses came out in the 90's
But then AGAIN
- Bathory
- Deftones
- Jane's Addiction
- Anthrax
- Slayer
Came out in the 80's but its a tough decision but in the end i'm going to have to give it to the 90's simply because ALICE IN MOTHER ******* CHAINS.
80s music vs 90s music
no group or band in the 1990's was really ever hotter than Michael Jackson during the 1980's... his Thriller album alone is better than anything to come out in the 1990's... and then you had other awesome acts such as Prince, Hall and Oates, Chicago, Queen, Aerosmith, Run DMC, Beastie Boys...
" You did not just type Hall and Oates and the word awesome in the same sentence. lol "oh yes I did... hell I was just listening to the Hall and Oates Greatest Hits CD in the Car...
Private Eyes was the shiznit back in the day... lol
I know! plus how dare him or her." You did not just type Hall and Oates and the word awesome in the same sentence. lol "
Alice in chains > Michael Jackson
Layne Staley > Michael Jackson
Chris Cornell > Michael Jackson.
Michael wishes he could sing like them.
90's > 80's pop anything
" @King Saturn: lol I took you for a Huey Newton man myself, but to each his own. lol "lmmfao
AC/DC and Iron Maiden were good in the 80s. That's about all I listen to from that area.
MEANWHILE 90s had a ton of pretty sweet bands and music, such as:
Nirvana (not as good as everybody says, but they're still pretty good)
Foo Fighters
Soundgarden
Green Day
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Our Lady Peace
Weezer
Third Eye Blind
Garbage
Tool
....and several more!
Personally.

It all balls down to which rock did people like
The 80's were softer and more "Happy" unless you count the metal artist, and some people like those bands, the 60's were more pop bands, and people like me aren't into the whole pop rock scene, and then you have the 90's which brought about dramatic darker harder sounding bands.
I believe pretty much the only band thats "soft" that i listen to is Deftones & The Black angels, but The black angels came out in 2004.
Social Distortion was good am a fan, but i believe they came out in 78 though i guess you can count them as 80's
Even though i would pick the 90's everytime its still hard.
Because the 80's did put out such awesome kickass beautiful masterpieces such as this!, it just gets me all hot and bothered.
the 90's . Michael jackson's peak, madonna still at her peak, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, the boybands like backstreet boys, nsync, boyzone, code red, boyz2men, introduction of Britney spears, westlife, christina aguilera, westlife, rocks like U2,matchbox 20, oasis, aerosmith, the male singers, Michael bolton, ricky martin, etc
90's foeva!!!!
Playstation 1 and Dreamcast came out in the 90's! WIN
I'm starting to appreciate 70's and 80's music a lot more these days. Strangely 90's music, which I grew up on mostly sounds like s*#t to me now.
I went through that phase for a while as well, until i started comparing the two more and realized 60's & 70's & 80's besides metal/punk were mostly pop rock, its great to go back and look through the past but you can't stay there, i couldn't, it wasn't enough, and then i started listening to the metal of 2000's and realized that the music back then was un-evolved in comparison, and todays metal is comparable to the music Beethoven made, loud greatly composed masterpieces.

" Dont forget Vanilla ice for the 90's "lol ouch thats gotta knock a few people off voting 90s
" @Yaujtapool said:Well if you wanna get technical it was made in 1989 ." Dont forget Vanilla ice for the 90's "lol ouch thats gotta knock a few people off voting 90s "
Muahahahahaha OWNED 80's.....we might have 'if you wanna be my lover" i'll give you that, the spice girls were bad, but 80's definately has the worst "pop phases" and one hit wonders, the 80's also has friggin power metal and all those super homo rock songs that spawned from satan, you all know the ones im talking about ;) cough Take these broken wings and learn to fly again learn to live so free!cough" @lazystudent said:

The 80's also has RICK ASTLEY
The 90's just > The 80's, this is why Grand theft auto San andreas > Vice city
And HAI! Lazystudent. how you been?
<<<< RadicalCannibal
Anyways since 70's has just been added, this is how the chart goes, 90's > 70's > 80's, the 70's had Iron Maiden along with all the good heavy metal bands making it own the 80's with their suckfest Madonna :P
90s was the time of boybands and girl groups which is never cool
the 80s ruled music and film and cutting-edged videogames like pac-man and donkey kong. we had the better toys too. can you say transformers?
Are you betraying me to the 80's like this? i can't believe you! the 80's were the time of the boy bands and girls too, for every backstreet boys of the 90's there is a New kids on the block & New edition in the 80's, the 80's had the king of pop, and Madonna dominating for christ sakes, it was a pop orgy in the 80's!
@umbrafeline:
Mmmmmmm but as i said above 90's had Playstation one, & Dreamcast.........come on you know you remember Lara Croft's square breast xD, the 90's was a revolutional time for gaming, a couple games came out in the 90's that broke boundaries and opened the door for developers to really make awesome games, and i'm sorry but 90's movies > 80's, the 90's was the golden age for Hollywood, and NO we had better toys!, can't remember any of them right now as i didn't play with toys much but we totally had better toys! and the 90's was when disney was actualy good!.
We also had the best Tv shows on Nikelodeon & Disney in the 90's
i do remember b/c i bought a box full of ps1 games from a guya nd tomb raider was among them. i played it for the pc. if it werent for my generation [idk when you were born] you wouldnt have video games. and you are wrong, the 80s own the 90s always and forever :-P
"1980's music easy...
no group or band in the 1990's was really ever hotter than Michael Jackson during the 1980's... his Thriller album alone is better than anything to come out in the 1990's... and then you had other awesome acts such as Prince, Hall and Oates, Chicago, Queen, Aerosmith, Run DMC, Beastie Boys... "
Awsome list!
The 90's was the time for all the great American bands to come out, the 80's was the time where pop duo's ran the airwaves.
I didn't care for rap, so i could careless what rapper came out in the 80's, and ive never liked Ozzy or Black sabbath until Dio was involved
I didn't like pop, So Madonna & Michael can definately jump off a bridge, Michael is talented and made good videos, but Madonna is a talentless non singing ***** the 80's were overran with 80% of the mainstream being people like Cyndi Lauper.......No thnx, i'll take the 90's over the 80's anyday, the 70's were great, but practicaly nothing good "Rock" came out of the 80's besides super girly ballads, unless it was metal, and in the 80's they even tried to girly up metal with hair metal crap, and then you have the guys who made all those lovy duvy ballads "Simply Red", "Hall & oates" people my parents wouldn't even listen too.
70's & 90's definately FTW, Bawlz were definately missing from 80% of 80's mainstream music.
And on Nirvana, yea they are my least favorite "Grunge" band, wait no no no that would be "Pearl Jam", ok Nirvana is my second least favorite, but they did kinda single handedly popularize Alternative Rock, paving the way for all the Alt bands now.
Yes 90's had its pop, every generation does, but the popstars didn't completely flood the airwaves like they did in the 80's the Spice girls were a fad and died soon, growing up pretty much the only thing close to pop i heard on the radio was "Britney Spears" & "Christina Aguilera", the 90's was a time that was dominated by urban pop or black singers (R&B) so the airwaves were more flooded with people like Aaliyah, Brandy, R. Kelly, TLC than they were Britney etc
This is what we mostly endured in the 90's as far as pop goes, these are the songs they flooded all over MTV and what not
Even if it was still pop it had somewhat a distinct sound to seperate it from your typical "Britney spears" and "Nsync" "Madonna" & "Cyndi Lauper", song. its ok though you can like the 80's more, ofcourse you do know that that means its over between us right?, i kid :P
Nirvana actualy formed in the 80's, Deftones formed in the 80's as well, but they made stuff in the 90's the majority of Nirvana's & Deftones stuff was in the 90's, and ABBA while ABBA was at their prime in the 70's, they released two albums in the 80's so we can still count them as 80's LOL
And i guess :P maybe your airwaves were different.
