Scott Widak has Down syndrome and suffers from liver disease, and he loves receiving mail. His nephew Sean posted his P.O. Box on Reddit and the site's users responded with hundreds of letters, packages, and gifts.

Hospital employees make a human chain passing containers of fuel up 13 flights of stairs to the backup generator at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

Jennifer Foster was visiting Times Square on Nov. 14 when she snapped the heartwarming moment. Here's her account of what happened:

“Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”

When students heard that Westboro Baptist Church planned on protesting the funeral of a soldier, they formed a human barricade around the funeral service to block them out.

Considering all the sad events that happened lately, a little spark of hope and happiness isn't out of place or unwelcome. Thanks bro.

Why can't news like this be plastered across my TV every night? Why don't they re-run news like this over and over again?

Thank you,you actually did restore some faith in humanity for me.This is how humans SHOULD act, sadly many do not,and they make me lose faith.

i REALLY hate that westbro baptist church.Sadly, they are the anti-thesis of how a christian, even more-so,a church, should act. There are hundreds of christians who do nice things all the time,I even know a friend who's mom was killed by a drunken moron and they let him go..no charges or anything.I have met more than enough christians who have been unbelievably nice (and not just christians).

These are the types of people who renew my faith in humanity. That dumbass church does not represent or know everything about christianity, everything they do and say is contrary to the bible, and anyone that thinks that they represent christianity or any religion is just as foolish as they are. They shouldn't even be able to represent humans, and I love that guy who held the sign that god hates no one. He's got the idea, why aren't there more pictures of him, instead of that retarded church.Do people like conflict (by people,I mean the news, and yes they do.The media truly is disgusting). And a nod to that muslim kid.

And thanks willpayton

@InnerVenom123: The world is full of cynicism, a little false hope and optimism should be allowed now and then.

Even though some people do terrible things, it's also good to remember that some people do good things. The news doesnt usually cover the good because it's not provocative and doesnt bring the ratings like bad news does. Like the old saying goes..."If it bleeds it leads".
