12-Year-Old Girl Discovers All US Presidents Are Related
A little 12 year-old girl beating out the old fuddy-duddies at the genealogy game. I say WIN. But, this would also be a big one for the conspiracy theorists.
She managed to find out all of that information? Even crazier, all the information was readily available? Dang, that girl has talent for research to be able to pull that off. Wonder if she has all this information on a website. I'd love to give it a look.
And professional genealogists tend to only look at the paternal line? Really? That's stupid and pretty lazy, actually. Sure, it takes some more work but it's completely possible to trace a family line through the women. My mother - a genealogist by hobby - has managed to go back centuries through only the women.
Oddly, that doesn't surprise me. This girl has a bright future. Or she will become a conspiracy nut. Hope for the best however.
I find the focus on paternal lineage odd since traditionally maternal heritage tended to be treated more absolute (for obvious reasons).
technically everyone had to come from one person the first people who ever had sex had kids and they had kids and so onThe kid even said that, that most of us should be able to go back to a common ancestor.
Ummm, I don't want to be a party pooper and lessen what this little girl has done but I knew this like years ago.But you didn't post a video of yourself saying it on the internet.
That's beside the point. I did some digging of my own and figured that out a while ago. If I had gone on Youtube with it they'd pronounce me a conspiracy nut so I decided against it.@Wise Son said:

John "Lackland" Plantaganet
King of England 1199-1216
Common ancestor to all but one U.S. President?
Does no one find that unsettling?
It proves that you can choose your friends AND your relatives. (Marriage to relations, that is.)We're all related...How is this a story?
@Xenozoic Shaman: Well that's still not true... You still can choose who you allow to be around you, but you still can't choose who is related to you...You're right, but I suppose it depends on your way of thinking. I choose to ignore the genetic angle, as most people wouldn't share that much of their ancient ancestors DNA. Focusing only on lineage, if we're all related, then we can't choose our family, because it's already been chosen. On the other hand, any choices we make marriage-wise are a decision to marry a relative by lineage, and also become related to your family by name. So you make somebody your family in name, and yet they were already family by lineage. I guess that's what I meant by choosing family. We certainly can't choose who gives birth to us... without time travel that is.
Now I'll bring this up: Any of you heard of the conspiracy theories of how only certain people can be president? "Blood-line theories" and what not? It kinda validates it, no? Or is it just a coincidence?
