Yost's New Warriors discusion thread
@jonny_anonymous: Possibly, but she needs more time in her own book.
Here we can discuss everything about the new NW series, written by Yost.
Who are the characters in this picture?
@hammertron: The guy with the helmet is Nova, he is a member of the Nova Corps, the Marvel's answer to the Green Lanterns.
The man in the Spider costume is Spiderman's clone Kaine, who goes by the name Scarlet Spider. The girl in green is is sort of sidekick; Hummingbird, who can install fear in everyone after choice, and also read minds.
The girl in yellow is a hero named Sun Girl, who use light-based tech.
The half naked guy with a horn on his head is named Mark, and he has recently become a Inhuman. He is capable of absorbing any form of energy that is directed at him.
The man with the cape and star on his chest is a original member of the Warriors named Justice. He is a mutant with advanced telekinesis.
The guy with yellow hair is named Speedball. He has a telekinetic force-field, that protect him from harm, and make him bounce like a ball. He is also a veteran New Warrior.
The chick with blue skin is a Atlantean warrior called Water Snake.
Need more details?
@waezi2: What have you thought of the book so far?
@jonny_anonymous: I actually like it. Not just as a NW fan, but as a guy who like comics. I was afraid that Kaine would take too much space from the other characters, but its actually pretty well balanced, with is difficult with teambooks.
@hammertron: I forgot to mention that Nova has superhuman speed, strength, and energy projection. He also wear a hi-tech helmet.
@hammertron said:
Are any of these characters completely new for this series?
Water Snake, Sun Girl and Mark are completely new.

I see.
It looks like Water Snake is meant to take Namorita's place to show the similarity to the original team.
@hammertron: Exactly. In fact, in issue 3

She says: I have failed you,Kymaera...
So, Justice and Speedball put this team together.
Do they have a specific mission or goal in mind?
What is their purpose?

They haven't really put the team together as of yet

But they are working on it.

Yep also I think Sun Girl may have appeared elsewhere but I'm not sure

She made a one panel appearance in Superior Spiderman, if I'm not wrong.
Oh, and to why they want the make a new team of Warriors: They want to redeem their reputation.
Even though Speedball also use it as a way to get through his depression. A lot of people complain about him being back to his former personality, and claims that it's Yost who haven't done his homework, but actually it makes sense. He want things to be back the way it used to be, or as close as possible. I actually talked about it in my Old Vs. New review of the first issue of the first and new series.
@hammertron: Have you read the series yourself?

Agreed on Speedball.
@jonny_anonymous: Wonder if and when he is going to crack...
@hammertron: Have you read the series yourself?
I only read the first 40 issues of volume one. The quality was starting to slip at that time.
I looked at the following volumes and felt they had gone completely down hill.
The cover picture with the team looks ok.
@hammertron: I agree about the first series, but I haven't read any of the other (haven't been able to find them), but I have heard the the six issue mini from 2006 should have been pretty good.
@hammertron: It would be great to have Firestar back as a Warrior.
I still hope that Darkhawk will become a member again.
@jonny_anonymous: @hammertron: You read issue 4? I hope I can get it on my next trip to Copenhagen.
@waezi2: Yep, it's mostly action but I enjoyed it. Hopefully next issue we'll get some team bonding.

Firestar is currently with the X-men so I think that's a no go.
@master_of_suprise: Yeah, I still dont really get that. Not that I dont like Amazing X-Men. Quite the opposite.
I don't know either though I'm liking Amazing X-men and am looking forward to the Amazing Friends issue.
I'm a huge fan of Scarlet Spider (Kaine) and Yost's work in general. I think I like the new team, but I feel Kaine is a little bit out of place. I'll keep reading it though, I'm not disappointed or something like that.
Issue 5 and 6 come out next month though based on solicits there's going to be a confrontation with The Avengers.
so I'm pretty sure that Jake Waffles and Mister Whiskers just became my new favorite characters
Haha
@daredevil21134: Unlikely, I'm sorry to say. If anyone remember him today, they say: "He's that black Batman-ripoff, right?"
To bad though, I thought he was awesome.
But then again, if Mockingbird can come back...

Well his brother is still alive and he took his place
@daredevil21134: Oh yeah! totally forgot Don!
If he does, I hope he will get a board as well:)

would be cool
@master_of_suprise: Well, logicly, she should be. Sort of...
A Namorita from the past was brought to our time in the Nova series. And then no one mentioned her after Rich died.
@master_of_suprise: But it looks like Vance believes that Water Snake is Nita.
so I'm pretty sure that Jake Waffles and Mister Whiskers just became my new favorite characters
But Jake Waffles is evil!

he'll redeem himself somehow! I know Jake and Jake could never be evil!
