Why is Aquaman more popular?

Namor is a pretty boy, elf-looking douche with a weird name and wings on his feet. Aquaman is a superhero, king, and Justice League member. Plus he has Mera. But it really boils down to more exposure and good comics.

Aquaman has become more popular than Namor by being the but of jokes. Nothing to brag about.

Namor is an arrogant, misogynistic chauvinist. While Aquaman has traits that actually makes him likable and interesting to read about.

wow i have never seen so many aquaman ass kissers in my life and so much disrespectful against namor in his own forum lol first off he not awful and yes aquaman maybe more popular however it don't change the fact that he was a very lame character back then plus being a knockoff that out shine the original until they finally made him interesting in new 52 universe all depends how long they will keep him interesting that way? he starts to grow on me but i still thank namor was better than aquaman, i know im going to get attack by aquaman fanboys im not trying to start a fight or anything nope just being honest here in my opinion im out bye.

Aquaman's iconic, the average person has no idea who Namor is. That's just part of it though.

@raw_material: after reading that...I prefer Namor. IMHO I find noble characters like Aquaman and Superman very boring. I don't need a character as a moral compass or source of aspiration, one might as well pick up a religious text. Again here is a character bound by personality with limitations. For me, and it is my personal opinion...that is boring and one dimensional. Namor can play both sides, he can have a bad day, choose good or evil. That is greater character depth, more relatable in some respects, dare I say more realistic.

Completely agree with whoever said Namor has a god-awful design. He's the king of Atlantis, what the hell is he wearing? Just doesn't scream "Undersea Ruler" to me. Also, stupid pointy ears and goofy ass wings...on his ankles? Wtf? Fins or something would look better, and would make more sense, imo. Admittedly I don't know much about Namor, just that he looks goofy/stupid as hell to me.

Lookey here. An opinion I held a year and a half ago that hasn't changed a single bit.

Namor has better powers and can look pretty fresh at times but he's so has the tendency to act like a complete a-hole. Aquaman is a pretty nice guy most of the time. They're both cool in their own way but Aquaman is definitely more likable to me

All the people saying Aquaman was a rip-off..... When Namor was basically Marvel's Superman in the Golden Age.

lol Yeah Namor is just not a character that appeals to me in anyway.

Namor's solo series haven't been successful since the 90's. Even a mediocre Aquaman series in the 2000's lasted 4x as long as Namors. And Aquaman's current solo series is still one of the best comics out there compared to Namor - who doesn't have one and (at least as far as the vine community goes) no one wants one either.

He's also not a constant main stay (let alone founder) of Marvel's main Superhero team like Aquaman is. Hell, Aquaman even led the Justice League for quite some time in the 80's.

This reminds of a bit of the new avengers cartoon

Thor is in another reality, run by Doctor Doom and there is no more heroes outside some street levelers who are now freedom fighters. Punisher leaps into a group of guards yelling "Punishment served !"

Which was one of the funnest thing I saw at the time hehe

DC has been trying to shake the Aquaman Sucks stigma for quite some time. He had a real cool series in 03. Geoff Johns is writing him now, like him or not, the guy did put Green Lantern on the map for the modern era. And having an awesome look and finisher in Injustice doesn't hurt either

While I don't dislike Namor. I got to dislike Marvel letting one of their premier characters of the golden age degrade to "That fish guy that got it on with Sue Storm" (and they let Sue storm becomes comics resident milf)

Up until the MCU launched, DC heroes were more popular than Marvel heroes with the exception of Spider-Man, Hulk and X-Men.

Because Aquaman is simply better. And I'm not really a fan of either, to be honest.

If Namor got more exposure I can promise you he be more popular.

Biggest reason is Aquaman was part of the justice league which for many years was DC's flagship title.

Aquaman is also a super hero while Namor was a villain quiet often past his invaders years, and even when he is the good guy he's never really a super hero.
