It's no secret how much we're loving the current MOON KNIGHT series. Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, and Jordie Bellaire have been doing wonders and are giving the character the series he deserves. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, right?

No Caption Provided

When the solicit for issue #6 came out, we were saddened to see:

Don’t miss the conclusion of Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire.

But we can rest assured that the series is continuing and looks to be in safe hands.

We may be losing Ellis and Shalvey but we'll still have Bellaire on colors. And Shalvey covers will make it a nice transition.

What do you think of the creative team of Brian Wood, Greg Smallwood, and Jordie Bellaire?

Not familiar with Greg Smallwood. Curious to see how Brian Wood handles the character though.

Brian Wood, yeah no thanks. I find him really boring as a writer, also after the Tess Fowler controversy I have lost a lot of respect for him.

Not familiar with either of them, but I'm going into this with an open mind. Excited for the future of Moon Knight!

Could be a pretty seamless transition. Don't hear this from me often, but I'm optimistic about this one!

This MK series sucks big time! The artwork sucks and the stories are lame. I hate the white dress suit and stocking head pc. I didnt think anything could be worse then last years but this new series comes awful close. MK is my fave character but if Marvel keeps screwing up his books then I'd rather have him killed off.

@g_man: Wow, I think this is a pretty good idea. Brian Wood is doing a phenomenal job with the X-Men/X-Women series. So, I can't wait to see what he will have in store for Moon Knight. I hope it's actual storyline. That's what I was disappointed with Warren Ellis, they are good stories, but they were all stand alone and I actually want in-depth storyline for Moon Knight. I'm assuming this is why Brian Wood isn't writing X-Men anymore soon to switch off to Moon Knight. Either way I'm excited because both titles are in good hands. I can't wait to see what Marc Guggenheim (writer of Arrow) has in store for X-Men as well.

Me sticking with this solely depends on how I find Wood's writing. I oftentimes find his work pretty dry.

@spideysense44:

have you read the issues?? they are garbage. no story lines just little "crappy" wanna be x-files episodes. Its so lame I want to cry. MK deserves better than this.

Dang. I didn't realize that was him, or, more accurately, I didn't realize who Brian Wood was when I read about that. (Still fairly new to comics. Sorry). Not sure what I think about this.

Any news on what (if anything) Ellis will be working on after leaving Moon Knight?

Jeez. You think Ellis could have at least given it a year. If he had only planned on 6 issues I wish it would have been more like a mini-series with a plot and purpose as opposed to a bunch of stand alone issues (Which I admit have been good, just not amazing).

Brian Woods work on X-Women has actually been pretty good in my opinion.

I just feel that Moon Knight is the type of character who needs a SUPERSTAR writer (Hickman, Remender, Fraction, Brubaker, Millar, Jason Aaron) paired with a Superstar artist, to get better exposure. They also need to stick around, closer to 30 plus issues. Moon Knight is a character that people want to like but it never feels like MARVEL gives him a full press push.

@doomdoomdoom:

/sigh... I collect all MK comics because he is my fave character. I have complete runs of all his books as well as appearances. So as a collector I will buy these new lame books with hopes it will be cancelled. Hey my prayers were answered last year when he was cancelled. I'm done with this thread. I don't want to debate anymore. I have to go do my hair.

@matkrenz: Thanks. I remembered Trees after posting the comment.

My newly developed theory is that Ellis is being taken off MK to work on a Doctor Strange ongoing to build interest for the film.

*notices that danzigspice created an account today, and despite being "done with this thread" this is the only thread danzigspice has ever posted in...because danzigspice created the account less than a minute before posting in this thread...*

anyway

I really liked Mara, and I've generally enjoyed Wood's X-Men, so while I have serious reservations about someone trying to fill Ellis's shoes here, at least Wood is a generally known (if inconsistent) quantity. So I guess that makes it no longer a definite drop for me after issue 6?

But man, what I wouldn't give for Brubaker.

I think I'm going to go cry now.

Just from sadness that Ellis and Shavely and leaving.

Not sad about the new team, though I haven't read too much Wood stuff. I see them rising to the occasion to pull off a great book.

I haven't picked up the series yet, but was going to when the first story wrapped. Now I guess I will wait to see how the new creative team does before committing to another series. It is a shame that so few writers stick with a series longer than a single story arc. Gone are the days of long story arcs in favor of "trade paperback" length stories. I wonder if the 6 issue story arc mandate at Marvel will die once digital comics become more of a focus rather than trades.

As a trade waiter, I haven't gotten the chance to even read any of the Ellis Moon Knight. That said, Wood, Smallwood, and Bellaire is a great creative team. Hopefully the book can stick around for a bit.

This would be amazing. I'm really pulling for an ongoing Doctor Strange book. So many cool things could be done with the character. Ellis would be a good pick but it would likely be him doing 5 or 6 issues and leaving so Idk if I'd want him to be the writer. Does Jeff Lemire have an exclusive at DC? Cause I'd love a Lemire Doctor Strange book.
