'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Renewed and 'Agent Carter' Picked Up

With the season finale of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. coming up next week, a big question was whether or not the show would be returning for a second season. Critics felt the show had a slow start but recently the action and suspense has been picking up, largely in part with the connections to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The good news is the show has been renewed for a second season, beginning this Fall.

But that's not all the news. ABC has picked up Marvel's Agent Carter.

If you saw the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter short, you saw Peggy Carter's start with S.H.I.E.L.D. after Cap disappeared. We can expect to see Hayley Atwell on a weekly basis.

So beyond excited for Agent Carter. Now all I need is the official announcement for a Black Widow solo out of SDCC and I'll be on cloud nine.

Agents of Shield > Arrow.

Now I wait patiently for a Moon Knight show.

Not sure how I feel about Agent Carter but I'm glad Agents of Shield got picked up for another season.

An Agent Carter show could be interesting. Seeing how S.H.I.E.L.D. was founded, and possibly seeing other characters like Dum Dum Dugan and Howard Stark appearing could be make for an interesting series.

But I lost interest if AoS after the mid-season finale. I've heard that it's apparently gotten better following the events of The Winter Soldier, but I've lost so much interest in the show that I don't really care for it anymore.

Unsurprising news is unsurprising.

SHIELD has certainly gotten better now that they are allowed to say Hydra. Whic is a terribly lame excuse to contextualize the poorly written openint 2/3rds but now that Winter Solider is out in the open hey it's like the writers finally got to writer the characters for a change.

Agent Carter has been one of the worst kept secretes this year. Honestly surprised that this happening after Agents of SHIELD given how ABC skews towards the female demo. Haley Atwell, Dom Cooper, and Neil McDonugh galvanting around with fun proto spy stuff. YES PLEASE.

Probably should have qualified that as an expression of despair rather than some sort of atheism

Still won't be watching AOS, and Agent Carter?? /really/??? Come on guys. Guess I'll have to wait for Netflix to get shows that actually have superheroes in them.

I doubt Black widow will ever have a solo, i can see a hawk eye/ black widow movie tho.

I watched the first five episodes, then hated myself for waiting five hours of my life. Then, everyone is all like "ohhh, it's better now" so I watched last week's episode (or rather, this week's I suppose) and guess what? It's still not better, so that's SIX hrs gone. And yeah, giving Peggy Carter a show is like giving Lana Lang a show, I don't care.

You're attacking the wrong person. It was dagmar that made it a "this vs that" thread instead of a "Glad they're keeping a show I like" thread.

See, I feel like that doesn't make a good show, I don't want to bother with a show that has maybe 3 or 4 good episodes out of a 20 episode season, it's like watching a really bad movie that has a "decent" ending. And I don't know anything about Carter besides what I saw in Cap, she's kind of a love interest and in the army, nothing more exciting than any other superhero girlfriend.

I'll probably binge watch the rest of AoS this summer if it gets on Netflix since I stopped after 6 or 7 episodes.

Agent Carter sounds interesting and I do like the actress that portrays her. Plus, ABC is used to shows with strong female leads. Hopefully it will manage to find an audience.

Some say Agents is good NOW, but I lost too much interest in it after sticking with it over half the season. I've forgotten about that show more or less. I don't have any interest in SHIELD really, nor the show.

It's a good time to be a comic book fan at the moment. So excited about all of the shows that are getting made.

My last count was: Gotham, Flash, Constantine, iZombie, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage (and of course Arrow and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

We're being spoilt.

Wouldn't it be cool if the Sharon Carter show would feature a few obscure-ish 50's Marvel superheroes? For example, to think of one, the original Vision is currently appearing in Invaders comic book (not sure if he is still called this, though). Wasn't there even a 1950's Captain America?
