Will we see any European heroes on the big screen?

Nick Fury at the end of Captain America 2 said he's heading to Europe.

I'm unsure as to whether Marvel or Fox would have the rights to Captain Britain but Union Jack must be Marvel and Black Knight, Deaths Head etc...

Is the American audience interested enough in any thing based in Europe?

Blade reboot set in Transylvania....maybe? or MI:13 story? Hercules?

Just ideas floating around in my head.

@westy206

Marvel can only produce so many movies a year, and they're going to focus on tried and true franchises for the most part.

If Blade gets rebooted, Blade will probably still be an American, that's what the audience is used to now.

--------------------------------------------

I'd rather see 2000AD characters at this point, our own movies from our own comics.

I really wanted to see a Dredd 2

Button Man's in development hell now as far as I can see.

I think those two were the only ones even being considered.

-------------------------------------------

Really want to see a Strontium Dog movie, Nikolai Dante, Halo Jones, Slaine, Kingdom, or ABC Warriors movies.

@silent_bomber:

I wouldn't say they are sticking to the tried franchises other wise Guardians wouldn't of been pushed up the list.

@avenging_x_bolt: me too.

@waezi2: who?

@waezi2:

I agree. Blade reboot would be good but I'd quite like Captain Britain and Mi:13.

Dunno, a lot of that might have been due to them wanting to introduce the "Cosmic" side of Marvel more (Thanos, Gems etc)

They've done a good job with their Cinematic Universe, often planning everything far in advance

That's like asking if we'll ever see any Canadian heroes in movies (Wolverine totally doesn't count), except it's like 20% less likely.

In other words, I really doubt it, though a Captain Britain movie would be...interesting.

@silent_bomber: Because he spends pretty much all his time in the US, and has done for years. It'd be like saying that because Psylocke is originally from England, English characters are getting representation.

Or, you know, Nightcrawler.

Aren't we getting THREE European superheroes in Avengers 2?

Black Widow... (ScarJo's accent is appalling, but she's still a Russian character)

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch - they're German...

Captain Britain has the strongest likelihood IF and ONLY if... Doctor Strange comes out. Magic needs to be introduced into the MCU for Captain Britain to be the character we know. Whether it's Brian Braddock or anyone else whose worn the uniform...

Transian actually.

I thought they were turning magic into science or something like that?

well we'll see... about both the Magic/Science AND also whether Transia exists in the MCU.

I definitely would like to see a Russian Colossus actually make the screen and it would be interesting to see if Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are German in Avengers 2.

@westy206: Agree. I don't see why they can't just cast an actor who can pull off a good accent.

@neghead: yeah Dracula in Blade 3 was abysmal. Stick to vampires and maybe some black magic dudes.

that might be because there aren't very many of them who can do convincing accents.

Then there's the lack of recognisable actors from the countries (or at least regions) where the characters are supposed to be from. If the American public doesn't know the person, they're unlikely to be cast in a mega-blockbuster. Even GotG - which was a nothing comic that no-one really ever read - had essentially an All-Star cast. lol i can't think of a single principle actor who wasn't in major movies, series or "sports entertainment" show... and who therefore wasn't already a star... super or even well-known...

@devilsgrin81:

True, its a shame that films have to cater to american audience so much. I know its the biggest audience but films should speak for themselves not the faces of the characters.

@westy206: I agree that films should be a bit more diverse instead of catering to just one market all the time.
