Cover by BILL EVERETT

If ever there was a collection worthy of the title “Marvel Masterworks,” Bill Everett’s seminal ’70s return to the Sub-Mariner, the character he made a legend, is it! Beginning with Sub-Mariner #50, Everett began a run as writer/artist that rivaled the greatest work of his career. His luxuriant artwork and signature anarchic take on Sub-Mariner made every page an action-packed classic. Villains from Subby’s past like Prince Byrrah set the stage, while the debut of Namorita and a new fire-vs.-water nemesis, Sunfire, ratchet up the drama. The return of another Everett icon, Venus, pits Sub-Mariner against Ares — while the capture of Subby’s alien ally Tamara leads to an all-out Atlantean invasion of New York City! Painstakingly restored and collected here for the very first time, this is a must-have Masterworks for every Marvel fan! Collecting SUB-MARINER (1968) #50-60.

Just Shattered Empire, Cap White and Red Skull. Also probably a couple trades. Either way ready for Secret Wars to end.

So all of these "what if" Secret Wars tie-ins are lasting until September? I tells ya, between this and Convergence my monthly load of comics has really gone down during 2015.

Just the main Secret Wars title and Star Wars.

Honestly, I can't wait for the event to be over so we can get regular comics. My complaint about Marvel is it's constantly doing "Universe/Earth shattering" events. Because of that, we never get a status quo. I just wanna read good, ongoing comics every month. Not a bunch of boring tie ins to an event.

@xwraith: I get ya, Image and Dark Horse are getting more and more of my money too. I just hope once Marvel becomes (sigh) ALL NEW, ALL DIFFERENT!!! We can cut back on events for at least a year.

@the_stegman: I agree. While I'm not against "Earth Shattering" events, I do think comics would benefit from them more if they weren't done as often. Like you said, while each event is suppose to have some short of impact on the status quo, because Marvel is already working on the next "big event" it makes whatever impact the previous event had feel short lived and none-important to readers because by the time they get use to the "new status quo" another event is already in motion, promising to once again change the status quo again.
Personally I'd love it if Marvel would take a break from events for a few years. Focus on building great storylines within their respected books, and if they need to do some short of crossover just do so within those titles or if it's a team-related storyline, say like an Avengers story, just tell that story within the Avengers' main title instead of making it its own title event.
Marvel should be thankful that they have Star Wars again, because that's the only reason I'm reading anything from them at the moment as I'm forced to wait out until Secret Wars ends.

Maestro v. Doom hmmm, Think the Maestro is biting off more then he can chew and Doom is going to knock him into the new Marvel Continuality!!

I honestly thought AOA Apocalypse or Korvac was going to make a play.

Preach it.

Aside from just not interesting me personally, the greater problem with the constant stream of events is that its breeding a fanbase that is only interested in reading stories that "matter" to the overall universe. A fanbase that is uninterested in anything non-event-related (or at least, one that wants to save their limited budget for the books that "matter" the most). You see comments to that effect all the time, even in these very comment sections.

Heck, the most common criticism of Convergence and its tie-ins has been that it didn't matter. People are upset that they spent money on a event that won't really have an effect on the wider DC universe.

I'm just saying, we're at the outset of a shaky path here.Hopefully both companies will cool their jets for a while after this and let their titles breathe. DC seems to have been smart enough to not pull another theme month this September and just keep their regular titles going, so that's a good start

I wonder if Doom's hand on that SW cover is supposed to be a reference to the DC universe in some way.

How could I have started such a huge Marvel girl and gone to seeing almost nothing that sparks my interest. I mean I'll probably read E for extinction (assuming I can handle the art) mainly because it looks like at least Kid Omega will be one book. I might try Spiderverse because I really enjoy Gwen and maybe....Spiderman renew your vows. But I'm not really a fan of the Secret Wars, I mean Convergence for Dc may not have affected the universe long term but I genuinely enjoyed all the stories I read from it.

Secret Wars...the characters don't feel like the characters thrown in a different universe to much of them feels altered which I guess is the point. I don't know what works for one person might not work for another.

I agree with a lot of the posts I'm reading the major events need to slow down and let regular stories start shaping the comic world.

I quit Marvel years ago because of their constant universe shattering events, and why do they keep renumbering stuff so much.i quit DC most around awhile before they announced convergence it seems like now DC is going to start Event rampage like MARVEL.

These two comic need to create

* good storylines that matter to the READERS

* character development. All these events with characters dying is pointless since WHO CARES ABOUT THEM. Make us care about the character

* you don't need constant fight scenes to make a good comic

* GOOD STORYLINE, CHARACTERS WE CAN CARE ABOUT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENTS,

* STOP CONSTANTLY KILLING AND REVIVING CHARACTERS

I only read 4 comics now and none of the are from MARVEL OR DC.

The cover for Future Imperfect #5 is the most awesome cover out of them all. At least in my opinion. It just roars awesomeness. It kind of has a "King Conan" feel to it. Which adds to the badassery. :)

I'll be getting:

Possibly Groot

Man, when is Secret Wars gonna end?? The main event title's been good, but I have little to no interest in most of the tie-ins.

Anyway, I will be getting:

Secret Wars

Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows

and possibly Civil War

Also, isn't Waid's Daredevil supposed to be winding down?? I jumped off because of the price hike, but I might get the trades if this is ending.
