Just wondering what it is in your opinion ...doesn't necessarily have to be a crossover
Best ever marvel event?
i can't remember a good marvel event in the past 10 years
the past five years they have been outlandishly awful
AVX, siege, fear itself, civil war, world war hulk
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
I hear Age of Apocalypse was pretty good and the Infinity Gaunlet.. but other then that...
One More Day... Bwahaha. Just kidding! Like @phisigmatau: said its been at least a decade since Marvel had an event that was considered by the majority of fans to be great.
Civil War was good, and I'm probably a very small minority that liked World War Hulk. Age of Apocalypse in the 90s was fantastic. Although I didn't read it I've a few friends who enjoyed Secret Invasion.
I liked Civil War, Secret Invasion, Siege and Fear Itself - liked, never loved but they were enjoyable.
My favourite crossover would be a pretty small one, perhaps made greater thanks to nostalgia - The Phalanx Covenant. That was the first comic event I read since I stopped reading Marvel some five years earlier.
In my memory its a great event.
Going to re read it and if memory doesnt serve me right, at least it got Sabretooth
Civil War helped bring me back into comics. AoA was one of the last things I read before I stopped buying books in the 90's. So those two I have a real fond memory of.
Fingers crossed for infinity, the captain marvel, Indistructable hulk and avengers comics running up to the event have all been great, I'm really hoping that the next event will lead to big changes, especially in the Bruce banner charecter but also the charecters in the mighty avengers... We will see
word war hulk.
sue me
Fine. Considered yourself sued. I've got the best lawyer around.
My favorite all-time "event" is the Infinity Guantlet. It had an absolutely fantastic build-up for about twenty issues of Silver Surfer, and the Thanos Quest. I don't think Marvel had an event of its' size for quite sometime before that. The whole event (including the SS issues) was great because not only did it heavily feature my second favorite hero SS (behind Spidey), but it introduced me to Adam Warlock. I read the trades on Adam Warlock and he became my third favorite all-time hero.
In a very, very close second is Annihilation. Like it has already been mentioned, the build-up for that, with the four mini-series was awesome. The event itself did not disappoint either with many memorable scenes.
Civil war I liked as well. It was a good shake up for the Marvel Universe with amazing artwork. Sure, several of the characters didn't act like themselves, but it was fun regardless.
I liked Planet Hulk, and World War Hulk. WWH was completely mindless fun, and I love JRJR's artwork. Don't take it too seriously, and the event is enjoyable. Far from great, but enjoyable.
SECRET INVASION WAS TERRIBLE!!!! The worst event by far in my opinion. After the reveal of (SPOILER) Electra as a Skrull, which was well done, I disliked it all.
Fear Itself was good. Again, not great, but good.
Civil War by far it changed so many things and it was something that has fresh having heroes fighting amongs themselves. Even though it wasn't really viwed as an event Age Of Apocalypse was a good one too.
Civil war did shake up the marvel universe abit but at the end of the day it was just a HUGE money making exercise for marvel to grow there fan base ...and if only the art was better in WWH ...[sigh]
Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation.
Infinity had a nice opening salvo too.
^
Civil War.Sue me. :P
You will get the notice in the mail.
You don't like it?
I'm tired of heroes fighting other heroes.
Which is why I liked the few Marvel events where they fight villains.
The one with the best premiss in my opinion was Dark Reign, but It never really reached its full potential.
Civil war. for one time, Stark gets to pull his darker side...
people said he is not calculative enough, not cunning enough...well, CW proved them wrong.
Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, War of Kings, Realm of Kings, and Thanos Imperative were by far the best. Danny Abnett and Andy Lanning need to have full time positions writing nothing but cosmic events for Marvel.
I've heard there's bad blood between them and Bendis, which is why they're not with Marvel anymore.
