Just wondering what it is in your opinion ...doesn't necessarily have to be a crossover

#2 Edited by phisigmatau (513 posts) - - Show Bio

i can't remember a good marvel event in the past 10 years

the past five years they have been outlandishly awful

AVX, siege, fear itself, civil war, world war hulk

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

I hear Age of Apocalypse was pretty good and the Infinity Gaunlet.. but other then that...

One More Day... Bwahaha. Just kidding! Like @phisigmatau: said its been at least a decade since Marvel had an event that was considered by the majority of fans to be great.

I'm in the minority but I really enjoyed Civil War, Secret Invasion, and Dark Reign.

#5 Posted by mdamasco (49 posts) - - Show Bio

I liked Civil War. Also, while not really an event Spider-Men was a great crossover

Civil War has been my favorite throughout the past decade, Secret Invasion follows shortly behind.

Civil War was good, and I'm probably a very small minority that liked World War Hulk. Age of Apocalypse in the 90s was fantastic. Although I didn't read it I've a few friends who enjoyed Secret Invasion.

I really enjoyed AOA and X-cutioner's song

#9 Posted by Hel (487 posts) - - Show Bio

I liked Civil War, Secret Invasion, Siege and Fear Itself - liked, never loved but they were enjoyable.

My favourite crossover would be a pretty small one, perhaps made greater thanks to nostalgia - The Phalanx Covenant. That was the first comic event I read since I stopped reading Marvel some five years earlier.

In my memory its a great event.

Going to re read it and if memory doesnt serve me right, at least it got Sabretooth

Civil War helped bring me back into comics. AoA was one of the last things I read before I stopped buying books in the 90's. So those two I have a real fond memory of.

Gonna ride the nostalgia train so the infinity events, this one might be added.

#12 Posted by guttridgeb (4831 posts) - - Show Bio

Civil War. It would be World War Hulk but I don't like Romita Jr.'s art.

word war hulk.

Fingers crossed for infinity, the captain marvel, Indistructable hulk and avengers comics running up to the event have all been great, I'm really hoping that the next event will lead to big changes, especially in the Bruce banner charecter but also the charecters in the mighty avengers... We will see

Annihilation. It's one of my favorite stories and all the tie ins build up the story very well.

My favorite all-time "event" is the Infinity Guantlet. It had an absolutely fantastic build-up for about twenty issues of Silver Surfer, and the Thanos Quest. I don't think Marvel had an event of its' size for quite sometime before that. The whole event (including the SS issues) was great because not only did it heavily feature my second favorite hero SS (behind Spidey), but it introduced me to Adam Warlock. I read the trades on Adam Warlock and he became my third favorite all-time hero.

In a very, very close second is Annihilation. Like it has already been mentioned, the build-up for that, with the four mini-series was awesome. The event itself did not disappoint either with many memorable scenes.

Civil war I liked as well. It was a good shake up for the Marvel Universe with amazing artwork. Sure, several of the characters didn't act like themselves, but it was fun regardless.

I liked Planet Hulk, and World War Hulk. WWH was completely mindless fun, and I love JRJR's artwork. Don't take it too seriously, and the event is enjoyable. Far from great, but enjoyable.

SECRET INVASION WAS TERRIBLE!!!! The worst event by far in my opinion. After the reveal of (SPOILER) Electra as a Skrull, which was well done, I disliked it all.

Fear Itself was good. Again, not great, but good.

Oh and Most of the other events sucked.

Siege, AvX, Age of ultron and etc.

Civil War Was Okay-ish

#19 Posted by LimboBot (116 posts) - - Show Bio

world war hulk sucked. hulk on a mindless rampage.

Civil war was okay but it ruined iron man who was actually cool

Seige was.....what was seige again?

AvX was blah

Age of Ultron seemed promising but sucked.

dunno any other events.

Infinity Gauntlet and Civil War.

Civil war, Spider-Men and AvX are my favourites though I have very high hopes for infinity.

#22 Posted by HumanRocket (7709 posts) - - Show Bio

Civil War by far it changed so many things and it was something that has fresh having heroes fighting amongs themselves. Even though it wasn't really viwed as an event Age Of Apocalypse was a good one too.

IG brought me back to the comics a first time in the 90s, Annihilation, War of Kings, Realm of Kings and Thanos Imperative brought me back again these last years.

Infinity Gauntlet and Annihilation.

Infinity had a nice opening salvo too.

#25 Edited by Willsmith410 (30 posts) - - Show Bio

Civil war did shake up the marvel universe abit but at the end of the day it was just a HUGE money making exercise for marvel to grow there fan base ...and if only the art was better in WWH ...[sigh]

I did like it a little....I may have to sue myself.

I'm tired of heroes fighting other heroes.

Which is why I liked the few Marvel events where they fight villains.

#39 Posted by Omega Ray Jay (7667 posts) - - Show Bio

The one with the best premiss in my opinion was Dark Reign, but It never really reached its full potential.

#40 Posted by tparks (4846 posts) - - Show Bio

Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, War of Kings, Realm of Kings, and Thanos Imperative were by far the best. Danny Abnett and Andy Lanning need to have full time positions writing nothing but cosmic events for Marvel.

Civil war. for one time, Stark gets to pull his darker side...

people said he is not calculative enough, not cunning enough...well, CW proved them wrong.

#42 Posted by Maddpanda531 (1080 posts) - - Show Bio

Quite frankly, I've enjoyed them all.

I've heard there's bad blood between them and Bendis, which is why they're not with Marvel anymore.

@xwraith: That would make sense. What a shame.

Civil War, Annihilation, and Thor the god of thunder.

#49 Posted by Red_Lion1989 (46 posts) - - Show Bio

Civil War i really enjoyed. Also Siege was a great event, didn't run for too long and filled with great scenes. Even though the writing wasn't the best I enjoyed Secret Invasion purely because of Leinil Yu.

Do X-Men Event counts? (Since they're mostly grounded to themselves, yet for some reason, impacts the MU Continuity more than their actual events)
