Five Things We're Most Excited About in 'Justice League: Throne of Atlantis'

Warner Brothers recently released the trailer for the 2015 direct to DVD film: Justice League: Throne of Atlantis, based of the 2012 story line of the same name, running through both JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN books. In the comic book story line, Orm, Aquaman's half-brother, thinks the surface world attacked Atlantis, so Orm retaliates by bringing his Atlantian forces to the surface world in one gigantic war. Aquaman has to chose between his friends on dry land and his family below.

While there's only this trailer to go by, there's a lot to be excited about for the upcoming release. We found quite a few things in this trailer alone that got us really pumped for the film.

5. Aquaman's Costume Origin

In the trailer, Mera is talking to Arthur, who has yet to become Aquaman and tells him, "This is your birthright, Arthur." We get to see the costume, with some added extras. Arthur sheds the extras and it becomes the traditional costume we all know and love.

4. Orm AKA Ocean Master Gets the Spotlight

Voiced by Sam Witwer, Aquaman fans will be pleased to see Arthur's half-brother as the antagonist of this film. While the name "Ocean Master" is pretty silly, Orm's role in this story is pivotal. He's a villain that can be reasoned with and frankly, I think his armor is pretty sweet.

3. The Trench

The story of the Trench, throughout Geoff Johns' run of AQUAMAN is one that started off as horror but later ends as pretty depressing. Their involvement in Throne of Atlantis is Act II of their story and I completely forgot about their involvement in this story until I saw the trailer. The Trench is one of the coolest new villains of the New 52.

2. Massive Collateral Damage and an Epic Battle

Throne of Atlantis is a war film and we get to see an invasion on a grand scale, and a whole lot of damage to major cities due to flooding. The trailer highlights it here and hopefully, it will deliver in a way that is true to the books. Once I saw this epic wave, I had a good feeling about it.

1. Aquaman hates his name

Old grumpy Aquaman doesn't like being called Aquaman. While this film does have a serious tone, it's nice to end this trailer with a bit of humor.

Who else is excited for Justice League: Throne of Atlantis? The film comes out in early 2015.

You'd hate your name too if it was Aquaman.

I actually think Aquaman is a pretty cool name, so not sure why he would hate it. Better than "Ocean Master" anyway.

Maybe the justice league film will be about the same,about atlantis invasion because the world engine in man do steel..humans are angry with him already só it makes sense if atlantians are too and they pop up and humans start to know that there are more on earth than what they see...superhumans and other races and its really a very good way to introduce aquaman and martian manhunter and other superhumans in the future dc movie universe

Hope the next movie they decide to do is based on a good story rather than another one of Johns' brainfarts.

I hope it is Awesome like Flashpoint Paradox and not like JL WAR.

I really hope I can see Firestorm, Zatanna, Green Arrow and Hawkman.

To be honest it does bring up a good point aquaman is a sucky ass name lol. Still i can't wait especially since i will see mera be badass.

Oh, so when Superman does it the movie sucks, but when it's anyone else then it's a reason to get excited?

To anyone who plays DC Universe Online like I do I have a question, is it just me or does Aquman's costume in the first pic with the extras look like the armor based off of his costume in the game?

I really hope this is good. I don't like the apparent rewrites of Orm's and Mera's origins that the trailer implies. Hopefully they'll surprise me.

@captainmarvel4ever: MOS is more noob Superman who is not even Superman vs trained, armed Kryptonians with 10x more experience than him.

@larryashlynn: You don't need much experience to know to fly the bad guys somewhere else, and not slam them into buildings. Besides, if he can accurately cauterize a wound, then he seems like he knows his powers pretty well. Heck the movie established that he had gone through the learning process and gotten flying down.

The movie looks awesome. The only thing that confuses me though is why Orm has purple eyes. I thought it was Garth originally.

@larryashlynn: Looks good, DC may not be good with live action, but there animation is always good.

I hope they fix how Superman and Wonder Woman got together. While I do enjoy the paring, the how is it's weak point

And that is different from MOS.....how?? Maybe I missed it, but I don't remember Clark saying "I think I'm gonna wreck this building now, just for shits and giggles." Its not his fault he got knocked around by Zod. You're overestimating his control of the situation. And the whole point of the final scene where he killed Zod was to show how much he cared about people. He did it to save a family.

They did. That's why they're making Throne of Atlantis. The fans loved it.

It cool to see Aquaman get spotlight. Oh well DC animated movie is always better than Marvel for example the last DC Animated Movie is Assault on Arkham is better than Marvel Animated Movie Iron Man Captain America Heroes United

I have no problem they change Aquaman origins with Atlanta still Alive. Excited on how they will handle Aquaman-Ocean Master relationship and also Mera-Wonder Woman team up will be EPIC

I like the whole Post Young Justice art style but for some reason these face designs just piss ... me... off

I don't know what it is, maybe it's the eye placement or something but they just sometimes look flat and sometimes too similar

Personally I can't wait for this, for all the reasons stated above and them some! Plus Filion returning as GL! always good!

Justice League:War or more accurately Justice League:Douchebags, was absolutely terrible and as this is a continuation of that film, I don't have high hopes, but that being said I will probably still give it a shot

Want this to be good. Like the voice actors for Arthur and Orm.
