No it should not be Darkseid, not for the first JLA movie. They should keep Darkseid as the villain for the end of a trilogy. He's the biggest bad in the DC universe they should reserve him for the grand finish.

It should be in this order:

Justice League 1 (origins): Despero or Starro

Justice League 2 (with a Wonder Woman and a New Gods movie allready done): Darkseid

Justice League 3 (Based on Crisis on Infinite Earths with cameos of Smallville and Arrow characters): The Anti-Monitor

Vandal Savage.

@rustyroy: Yeah I can understand that, kind of like what Marvel is doing with Thanos and building him up really well.

But I just think the Justice League should assemble because of some massive threat and Darkseid is a good fit for that (and because I kind of want to see DC have Darkseid first and beat out Thanos haha)

But there are alot of good villains to go with so I wouldn't complain at all if they held out on Darkseid

Then what do you follow it up with? Darkseid is the be all and end all of bad guys in the DCU.

@jphu8414: The problem is if they face Darkseid first then who will they face after him? He's the best Justice League villain, anyone after him will be underwhelming. But if DC decides to make him the first villain JL faces then I hope they do it over 2 or 3 movies.

Seeing as ho MArvel has already used the alien invasion, I think it should be someone within the planet like Maxwell Lord or Vandal Savage or even Luthor heading an Injustice Gang, and then set up for the second film with maybe Brainiac or Darkseid.

I was thinking of putting 'White Martians' as a choice. However, although they are a formidable force in the comics, they're basically generic aliens like the Chitauri for heroes to beat up on. They don't really have a memorable named central figure.

I mean, the most memorable White Martian on the internet is Zum, and the only reason why he comes up is because Flash made him famous by giving him an infinite mass punch.

I feel like WB/DC has to go in a different direction than Marvel. Darkseid is too much like Thanos, and Brainiac is too much like Ultron. I'd like to see them use someone like Maxwell Lord also. He bridges a lot of gaps between Clark, Diana, and Bruce. He easily fits in with Lex as well. With him, you potentially increase the number of well acted scenes with smart dialogue, and I'd rather have that over more slow motion 3D...bearing in mind that I know Zack Snyder is directing this, and we'll get some of that regardless.

I guess that if DC want a movie better than Avengers, they need of a Supervillain that destroys everything in his path (Darseid), 90% of the world now, wants a film full of special effects and destruction of scenery, nothing too intellectual

Obviously, any serious comic book reader will know that Thanos is a Darkseid knockoff. It doesn't matter to everyone else. Somebody was taking a nap in DC's film division. Marvel had plans to throw up the knockoff on the silver screen while WB/DC bean counters were playing it safe with Batman. And to think that Marvel was bankrupt at one point. It's shameful to think of the last 10 years.

If WB/DC uses Darkseid now, it's mostly because the bean counters who had no balls for a decade have watched what Marvel has done. They have become the knockoffs.

I think the first film should be against the Injustice league and the line up of it is Vandal Savage and his henchmen are Toy Man, Professor Zoom, Black Adam, and Star Sapphire. Alternatively the Justice League can face off against Crime syndicate with Maxwell Lord,Owlman,Johnny Quick, Gentleman Ghost

The second film should be Brainiac allied with the Reach. Though I don't know if people would accept another alien invasion theme. It's becoming too generic.

The 3^rd film should have Darkseid and the duo of Doomsday and Ma'a lefa'ak as his henchmen.Though I would not want it to be an alien invasion idea but more like the movie beginning with Felix Faust trying to gain certain magical artifacts Green Bell of Uthool, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath and the Red Jar of Calythos to summon the Demon Three but unbeknown to him all these are special dimensional keys that let Darkseid, Doomsday and Ma'a lefa'ak (the demon 3) through. I want the last installment to have a magical , mystical play on these villains.

Darkseid is to the Justice League as Loki is to the Avengers.

They're the most powerful and iconic villains in JLA history, it would only make sense.

The way I would do it is have Vandal Savage make contact with Darkseid. He makes a deal that if he tells Darkseid everything that he needs to know to concur Earth then he'll leave Savage in charge to rule Earth on Darkseid's behalf. Vandal Savage is immortal and he would believe that he'd eventually be able to liberate Earth and at that point the planet would be at a technological level were he could build a galactic empire with Earth at the center.

Vandal Savage would recognize the threat that the superhero's of the planet represent. Even if they don't succeed in beating Darkseid and his armor the one's how survive might still screw things up for Savage later. With that in mind Savage would actually be playing for both sides. He would be the one responsible for actually gathering them together as a team and warning them about the impending invasion. If they lose then it increases the chance that they all die, and if they win it establishes Earth as a force to wrecked with as well as gives Savage an in with the most powerful creatures on the planet which would help him in later plans to rule the world.

So Savage gathers the Justice League together and prepares them for the invasion. There needs to be some good complexity written for Darkseid. Explain why he's even interesting in concurring some backwater planet. Something to do with the Anti-Life Equation I guess. Anyways awesome fighting ensues, and at some point the Justice League will discover Savages real role in the invasion. Then Savage would fake his death since they might not be aware of his immortality.

The Justice League will basically fight Darksied and his army to a stand still. They may even somehow get in contact with New Genesis and have Earth places under it's protection. Eventually will be left with the only option of retreating with his tail between his legs. Before he goes though he leaves behind a big metal box as a final FU. The League would probably think it's some sort of bomb but then they hear a banging coming from inside it. A creature bursts out of it and it's none other then Doomsday.

This will be the final big fight of the movie. The whole League goes against the beat but eventually it comes down to just Superman and Doomsday. At the end Doomsday is beaten but Superman dies in the process. Superman would stay dead for a few films, but would eventually come back to life.

Anyways that's just my ideas for how the plot would play out from the villains perspective. The movie itself would probably read a little differently.

for the first of JL movies someone like Parasite is a good idea. pretty much take Superman's power then the team takes him on. Bats figure out to drain/weaken him Superman finishes.

I'd save the likes of Darkseid for a second or third movie, characters like him, Anti-Monitor and Trigon are too big to throw into a first movie as you cant really build them up properly within that timeframe. Have them be the hidden master or the unseen watcher like Thanos was, and then use them later on. (See how the first JL story failed to do anything for Darkseid other than establishing him as a threat and then compare that to how he was introduced into the Timm-verse STAS)

For the first movie, you could do what Avengers did and have 1-3 named characters lead an army to Earth, facilitating the need to have the League form, as none of them can handle it alone. So someone like Mongul+Warworld, Starro, Maxima, Big Barda (start of a redemption arc) or Despero acting out the will of another character could do well in such a role.

That said, I think the Anti-Monitor is unsuitable for the big screen, because you have to either scale him down to Galactus size (which also seemed to be too big in the second FF movie), introduce the concept of a multiverse and make the audience believe in atleast one that gets blown up.

Darkseid is going to be a problem if Marvel gets Thanos out first (because non-readers will think WB is just completely ripping off Marvel... which my ideas above will only add to).

Trigon... well apart from the fact he's not a traditional JL opponent, his only other issue is that he is Satan in all but name, so that could stir some unwanted religious controversy. And you really can't use him without adding Raven to the mix, otherwise it would be like the Joker fighting Superman with no mention or hint that Batman exists.

@outside_85: I think they could get away with Darkseid in the first JL movie. I think with Man of Steel DC has already established that the threats in their universe are going to be bigger. Marvel is building to Thanos for their third team up film. Darkseid is about the equivalent threat wise and I think DC can pull off building up for him instead.

A lot depends on how much pre-JLA movie screen time the characters already have. If WW, AM, MM, GL and Flash get a enough back story in Dawn of Justice then it should fall together easily for a major global threat to bring them together and audiences will get it pretty easily. If the characters don't get much back story Pre-JL movie then they will need to give some level of introduction to each of them or people who aren't comics readers will be somewhat lost ... White Martians could be a cool storyline as it can give everyone some good individual attention. Something along the lines of what the JL animated series premiered with could work to drive an interesting story, introduce lesser known characters to the cinematic universe and provide a credible global threat.

Personally I think Darkseid or Brainiac is going to end up feeling like a rip off of Avengers if they lead with it ... no way a JL movie is going to beat these to the box office at this point. Own that Marvel beat you to the punch and do something that will feel original to audiences or risk epic flop.

I'm also not 100% anti the idea of a new creation for the cinematic universe, or a derivative or amalgamated version of an existing villain(s) made bigger and better for the big screen ... Starro would need some significant changes to play well on big screen, but the concept of mind control on a global scale has potential, however a huge starfish shaped bad guy on the big screen seems silly. I can see something like what they did in the Young Justice cartoon with "Starro Tech" ... make Max Lord the bad guy who is given alien mind-control tech to use on the JL turning them into his personal minions, make them save themselves/each other in time to face the heavy hitter (maybe Despero who is the mastermind who gives Max the tech) for the epic finale/fight scene ... pays a bit of homage to some classic JL characters but is still it's own thing and it could make for some good tension in a sequel if WW does actually snap Max's neck to save the world.
